CWOP/MADIS location keeps reverting
« on: November 14, 2019, 12:00:12 AM »
Long story short: I moved my station and updated the location in all the places - including via NOAA to update CWOP, MADIS, etc. It worked fine, but at some point it reverted to its previous location. I've emailed the NOAA affiliate using the Gladstone site, and they fixed it, only for it to revert a day or so later. Am I doing something wrong? Everything else is reporting the proper location. On the Gladstone QC site the location that FindU is reporting is the correct location.

I just want to get the location correct so I'm not sending weather data for a location 6 miles away from where it really is.

Thanks in advance....

I don't know how many times to keep saying the same thing over and over. I've said it in short brief posts. I've said it in medium size posts with a bit more details and I've said it in long posts with all the details.  #-o

Did you read the other thread?

Thanks for the reply, and I do understand your frustration - but yes, I did read it. Would the issue noted affect my MesoWest location? It is also wrong, however it seems most of the people in that thread had correct MW positions.

If that's the case, then I can just wait to see what happens when they get the backend databases all synced again, but I was mostly concerned that the wrong location was flowing outward. I could deal with indication only on gladstonefamily.net, but I got concerned when it seemed that it affected the location of the downstream sites.

Thanks.

Things are in flux now. My recommendation would be to ensure that your software and your APRS packets are correct. Any registration changes at this point should probably wait till the issue is resolved. Of course you can try your luck and submit to CWOP support to change your registration information and see what results. But don't be surprised if it changes back shortly thereafter, at least until this issue is resolved.
