CBME 80
« on: August 26, 2018, 01:18:30 PM »
This is my CBME 80.  I don't know much about it, serial #933 last serviced in 2009.  It measures cloud height up to about 24,000 ft.

I've tried to purchase a few heavily used ceilometers through E-Bay and none have worked well enough and/or been cost prohibitive to repair until I found this one.

I've been lucky and satisfied with this.  It goes into "vertical visibility" mode during moderate and heavy precipitation or when the cloud base is quite high with precipitation, but other than that it has been behaving very well.

Unfortunately I don't have proper sighting for other instruments, although I do have a Ambient Weather station in a Davis 7714 shelter and a 4" rain gauge.

Very nice! I'd never heard of a ceilometer before...
