Mt. Roosevelt Fire Tower
« on: March 02, 2011, 08:53:50 PM »
My wife and I went on a drive around the area today and found a new place we hadn't been to before.  On Mt. Roosevelt there's a road marked by the state as a wildlife observation area.  It's a kind of narrow road (although paved) and it ends up at a fire tower (and lots of microwave and radio towers).  While we were looking around, I looked up at the tower and saw a weather station.  Here are some links for the tower, and some pictures I took while I was up there.  Sorry, all I had was a phone camera, so the quality isn't too good.

It was kind of hazy today but we had a good time and enjoyed the view.  We were looking east over Rockwood, TN towards Knoxville, TN and the Smoky Mountains in the distance.
