interference from other sensors or just a flaky osprey?
« on: September 17, 2021, 11:47:15 AM »
Testing a unit at my house before moving it to buddy's house.  All of a sudden, the outdoor temp/humidity is not showing on ws view and, of course, any downstream feeds; all other sensors(wind/rain/solar) are working.  If I press the reset button it will display for a few, then drop off.  Is the sensor just intermittent or do I have some strange conflict?

Oh this is ugly.

The test I would think of, is to use your GW1000 with buddies sensors, even going as far as pulling the batteries from your sensors. Yes, I know how much of PITA this would be.

Other option is to take the entire buddy rig out of range of yours, like really out of range,  maybe at buddy's place? .This may be a much easier test

ugly ugly ugly

Also goes without saying, make the firmware on the system is up to date.

If you have an sdr receiver you could use it for testing.
But from what you say seems like a malfunctioning t/h sensor ( as the R/W/S sensors are always received ).
A thing you may check is the batteries voltage ( maybe the T/H sensor stops working at a higher voltage level )

P.S.
On the forum someone reported that this is the default behaviour of gw1000: when it loses the signal from a sensor it continue reporting the last received value for a few minutes and then it stops reporting

FYI, here is what I use to take an Osprey unit out of range for testing

Firmware is up to date on both.

What is odd. I've reset 3x today as tests
1. to remove WN34L and reset - happened again
2. to remove WH57 and reset - happened again
3. reset just because.... still functioning.

I'll check voltages on batteries as well as shutting down all my sensors(batteries out) as a test.

voltages are at 1.57v which I would guess is ok.
Active Rain/UV/Solar all still are transmitting during the outdoor temp/hum failure to be received by gw1000 or show in ws app. It failed again for 6 hours yesterday, then just popped back up running.

Does the Osprey have a single transmitter? I would assume it does, all sensors would use to broadcast since I only have a single sensor ID in WS_APP.

The arrays and sensors just broadcast on 915Mhz correct?  In theory, I could have 15 consoles reading the data around the house without interfering with the transmitting of data unless something was in close proximity (emf noise).

It's starting to look like this temp/hum part on this sensor is not good.
