It's been another week and still no stats at gladstonefamily.net--it just keeps saying "no weather data is being received from findu.com." There haven't been any gaps in reporting to findu or MesoWest. I sent an email to Philip a few weeks ago but never heard back. Is there anything I have to do to get things moving?

The member list has you listed so you are registered with FindU. But after data started flowing did you ever send a follow-up email to cwop-support@noaa.gov telling them that your data was flowing well into FindU and that your reported position location was correct on the map? ...and that you wanted to register to be ingested in to MADIS for analysis?

I sent emails on Feb 7th and 8th and while I show up on the member list dated 2/4, I don't see my data anywhere other than findU.

I just figure they're backed up...

To be clear, because this page is certainly not clear;
http://www.wxqa.com/SIGN-UP.html

... You must send two emails to cwop-support@noaa.gov. The first email is to get your ID (non-ham people), and the second email is to request to be added to MADIS only after everything is flowing and proper location etc. on FindU.

UPDATE: Okay its been a while since I did this. I got it wrong above so I scratched it out. You don't need to send two emails. But it is two steps. The first step is to fill out the online registration form:
http://www.findu.com/citizenweather/cw_form.html

That online registration form essentially does send a special email to CWOP-Support @ NOAA. You'll get an email back with your new CWOP ID. Then after you start successfully sending data to FindU and your map location in FindU is correct you can then send the email saying everything is okay and to request to have your station be ingested by NOAA's MADIS system.

I sent the second email to confirm my position was correct, and it looked like registration succeeded, but I didn’t specifically say I wanted to be added to MADIS. I thought MADIS automatically collected data from findu once registration was complete?

I suppose sending another email can't hurt. Explain your unsureness and reaffirm you desire to have your station data ingested by NOAA's MADIS.

I got the following response back from CWOP-support:

Quote
Your data is flowing to MADIS, as your site is registered and MesoWest, a third-party data user, would not have your data unless it was in MADIS, as that is from where MesoWest retrieves the data they display.

The Gladstone websites are also a third-party data user and CWOP Support has no control over their web displays.    There is a link for questions at the bottom of your site's summary web page.

However, my page on Gladstone still has no data, and I haven’t gotten a response to any of the emails I’ve sent that link. Also, my station doesn’t show on certain websites that I’m pretty sure get data from MADIS, like Windy.com. Does anyone have any ideas??

When I was learning about CWOP it was hard to separate what roll each website played and how they were connected and whom was responsible for what. I still don't know who today handles Gladstonefamily.net as it seems to be on auto pilot or something. It is so outdated and like you said there is no response back from emails.

Maybe someone else knows more. Like when was the last time anyone heard from Philip Gladstone? What is he up to now? Who is at the helm? What plans does he have for the future of Gladstonefamily.net?

Is it possible to get the quality reports from any other source? I’m just trying to make sure I’m sending good data.

Yes, Absolutely! Some people don't like Gladstonefamily.net anyway and they prefer to do quality check with MesoWest only.

Your data looks good:
https://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/meso_base_dyn.cgi?stn=F4377
https://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/regress_database_top.cgi?stn=F4377

Now interestingly enough if MesoWest gets its data from MADIS then why is your station not showing up on MADIS Surface Map? That just seems odd. So perhaps your data is flowing into MADIS but you may not be fully registered. Maybe government backlog. It is possible that this is the delay and why Gladstonefamily.net does not show your data yet.

You are not on the MADIS Map....yet:
https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/MadisSurface/

It is possible to also get data quality check from MADIS directly. But because you are not on the map you can't get this quality check.

So in recap there are 3 places to get data quality checks with your CWOP station.
- MesoWest
- Gladstonefamily.net
- MADIS Surface Map

Also if your software/logger lets you publish to AWEKAS that is another form of analysis with neighbor stations. Take this one a bit more lightly. I like it because I can see that my station follows trends of nearby stations without matching perfectly.
