new device firmware version for HP25xxC: V1.9.0
« on: March 29, 2023, 09:14:09 AM »
Hi!

There's a new firmware version V1.9.0 available for the HP25xxC (so HP2551C & HP2560C).

Changelog HP2550&HP2560 Firmware V1.9.0 2023-3-29:
  • WiFi password changed to show “*” during the input stage
  • Bug fix for multichannel PM2.5 display on the main UI
  • Restore multichannel sensor data quick brief display
  • Correct spelling mistake on About page
  • When on board barometer sensor failed, WH32 indoor sensor will be adopted as indoor data source
  • Spelling and grammar improvement for Dutch, French, Spanish and Portuguese language
  • Expand the calculated “feels like” temperature range. Originally is limited to the arrange of -40℃ to +60℃
To install this update, use the usual device firmware update procedure:
  • Unzip the file
  • copy user.bin file to SD card (max 32GB)
  • Insert to console to start upgrade
These files are also available on Ecowitts HP2550C product page.

There are, by the way, significant (binary) differences between this version and the version v1.9.0 published some time ago at Froggit.
I would probably rather install the version from Ecowitt (even if an HP1000 from Froggit already has v1.9.0).
After all, according to the file date, this version is one month younger - perhaps bugs were found and fixed that are still contained in the Froggit version.

Addendum:
Just installed on an HP2551C. No abnormalities.

Oliver

the Froggit 1.9.0 version doesn't contain all the bug fixes.
Especially not the WH41/43 PM2.5 bug as it was reported to Ecowitt only after Froggit released their 1.9.0 version.
Hence, even if you are on Froggit 1.9.0 you should install the new Ecowitt 1.9.0 over it !

Did the update on one of my HP2552's. Wiped out my pm2.5's sensors. Had to reset all 3 up in desired order. Also, Soil is now Boden. ??

Think another firmware fix is in order..

Also, Soil is now Boden. ??
I think they assigned the wrong language term (soil = Boden in German) for the English language ...
But where did the text replace take place ? in the console or on ecowitt.net ?
It didn't happen inside my HP2550 console (HP2552 would be a station, not just the console  ;)) with the 1.9.0 update - nor on the related dashboard
in either case you should be able to change that yourself either in the console or on the ecowitt.net dashboard

Yes 2550, even though at the time of purchase ecowitt sold them as hp2551. I've got a custom to calling them hp2552's.

Boden shows on  the console.

you are right  - I figured mine shows that too
will inform Ecowitt

EDIT: reported to Ecowitt and acknowledged by them - correction will come in the next device firmware upgrade.
as it's rather a beauty thing and not a functional bug, it may take some time before it will be relased I assume.

I raised the “Boden” issue a few weeks ago, I assume this will be remedied soon with the next firmware update

Hopefully Ecowitt will address the pm2.5's I.D's being removed after update as well.
All 3 of my pm2.5's came back in different order (1-2-3)

You may have noticed that a bug related to the WH41/43 devices was removed. This probably needed a sensor de-registration. My sequence was retained by the way - or just device #1 was registered earlier than the other. The sequence normally depends on which device posts first.
Does this observation remain when you power-cycle now or was it only after the firmware upgrade  ?
