Weather Station Hardware > What Weather Station Should I Buy?
weather station close to the beach
xicosm:
Hello everyone!
I'm new to the forum and to the whole world of weather enthusiasts :)
I live in Valencia, Spain, and we have a big community of beach volleyball. As an outdoor sport, the weather conditions influence the game a lot. Rain, not so much, but the wind is a decisive factor on wether we are going to train/play or not.
I live on the top floor of a building not far from the beach where we play https://maps.app.goo.gl/adBbF3CGMhLVMhVK8 .
Ideally we would have a weather station right there at the beach, but that is not realistic at the moment, so I'm considering buying one and installing on the terrace of my building and feed the data to the websites we use to check the wind conditions like windguru and windfinder.
I have two questions:
1. the fact that the weather station would be placed a few blocks inside into the city, would that affect the data too much or would it still be worth doing?
2. which weather station should I buy/install without breaking the bank :)
Thanks a lot!

You will have a sea breeze at the beach. Inland, 2 blocks with buildings probably won't give the most accurate data if you need it strictly for volleyball. Have you looked for a nearby buoy with wind data?

I have found the following weather stations.
You can see the effects of the building etc at the various locations:

I am also familiar with Valencia. I have family there.

If you decide to go ahead you could check out the Ecowitt range. Their equipment is not too expensive and good customer support.

Thanks Wooks61
I can see the stations you shared but none of them are sharing data on the wind websites that we use. Maybe I should have been clearer, we use windguru and windfinder for their prediction on the next few days ... the live data is not so important.
I had a look and I see that they both need the weather station to be integrated with meteobridge so data can be sent to them. Would that work if I purchase the ECOWITT you suggested?
Thanks again!

ok, I think I got it ... I need to get meteobridge to read the data from the GW1000 and then post it to the websites I'm interested ...
One more question, I see that when buying the ecowit, there are differences on the frequency based on location, why is that?
