Author Topic: WU Radar "wxradar.php" stuck at 1422 UTC (Read 1725 times)

Our local radar site KAPX was down for several days in the past week.

Yesterday, it began working again per wxnwsradar.php and other sources including GR Level 3. The https://radar3pub.ncep.noaa.gov/ site shows KAPX as being "Up".

However, the old WU radar (mine is here) still shows the radar as being down, probably because it hasn't updated since yesterday morning. My compatriot up US-23 is showing the same thing.

Is there anything at WU that explains this? I have tried other browsers, and get the same results. The fact that lakehuronweather (Otis) has the same issue tells me that something is amiss at WU for this. I might just take the WU radar off of my navigation stub and rely on the NWS Radar if there is no resolution.

Mine is down as well. I think I noticed mine on Tuesday evening.

I went and switched mine to new NWS radar image.

You can open https://radar.weather.gov/ridge/lite/ and find your GIF image. It's not as feature rich as the WU one. But at least it's working.

It appears it's a WU issue and not NWS NEXRAD issues....All radars on the WU site are reporting down at this time.....

And again, WU IT at its finest.....

Your WU Radar is still set on type=NOR (Base Reflectivity) which has been deprecated by WU since May 5th. Changing your WU Radar to: type=NCR (Composite Reflectivity) will still work. Changing it to type=NCR requires changing it in WU-radar-inc.php and also possibly in Settings.php... it is in several places in both of those ....not just one url line. Use notepad and use the "Find" search feature in Notepad's "edit" menu for NOR and replace wherever type=NOR is found with type=NCR.

Which file is that? WU-radar-inc or Settings.php....you might need to check both...

Otherwise it might be your browser is caching the old page info... does the radar work if you copy and paste the full https://radblast link directly into the address bar?

I changed both. I also tried two separate browsers. it does work when I copy and paste for some reason.

Sorry then...All I can suggest is that you include both WU-radar-inc.php and the section with your WU radar settings in Settings.php as a text file (not a screen shot) so we can see what is happening, or you can wait until Ken updates the script sometime in the future?

Try using type=N0Q (that's capital-N,zero,capital-Q).. they seem to have changed it again. A current URL looks like

Many thanks to all. I just setup my scripts and thought I had everything ironed out until I noticed that my individual WU radar map was stuck on May 5th. Coming here and doing a search and then making the change to type=NCR corrected it... Stan...
