Low budget weather station recommendations?
« on: August 08, 2014, 09:17:00 AM »
Looking for a low budget, weather station suitable for an intelligent beginner (i.e. me )

What I'm looking for is:
Typical sensors suite (rainfall, temp & humidity, wind strength & direction), a bonus would be sun strength/uv
PC connection for website/remote access (I have a home server running 24/7 already with)
Extra remote sensors/channels for temperature - for example garage/greenhouse
Solar power remote sensors - is this possible or retro-fittable on those that don't have it as standard?

I'm handy and not afraid of a soldering iron/hammer drill, however between other projects don't really have the time at the moment for a home-brew solution, I would prefer something a bit more plug & play.

I've spent far too much time on Amazon reading bad reviews so would like some suggestions and feedback from the enthusiast community as a whole (I don't mind buying elsewhere than Amazon, I just go there for reviews and ballpark prices, I'm quite happy to support independent specialists)

Budget is £100-150

Current shortlist is:

ClimeMET CM2000

Aercus WS 3083

Oregon Scientific WMR88

TFA Nexus

Though I'm wary of some of the above with regard to customer support and durability.

Can anyone offer any insight into the suggestions above, and/or make other recommendations?

thanks..
