Thats all thats impotent to me.

They make medicine for that now...  :)

My gold star was suddenly taken away a week ago. It has auto-magically returned today. No wonder I was able to completely clean with only one wipe this morning!

I spoke too soon. As of this morning they've stripped me of my medal. No reason given. This is stupid.

I thought this was funny.
I'm set up for those "Gold Star Alerts" where you are emailed when you lose or gain your gold star.   This morning I received an alert that I GAINED my Gold Star at 1:30 AM and then another at 1:41 AM that it was lost.

Then at 6:05 AM, another that I gained it again.  I'm glad I didn't get too excited because I lost it at 6:16 AM.   I've determined that someone in the dead of night is stealing the star as soon as I get another one.   I'm going to set up a web cam on my Gold Star to find out who is doing this.  :)

Shows you how much I pay attention, I didn't even know I had one.  Then again in the browser I have all of the places I report to on, I have it scrolled down so I can see the summary information, so its probably been there for a long time and I just never saw it.

I wouldn't be surprised if IBM (they own WU now, says it proudly when you open the Android app) takes them away and melts them down and sells them when the gold price is right....

I plagiarized this from a 2017 post regarding goldstars / I have one by-the-way  [tup]

Directly from the WU web site

Are you a quality gold star weather station?

← Personal Weather Stations
How can I tell what stations have high quality data?
All weather station data goes through a quality control (QC) process.
Each station is checked for
Data Validity - Is the data within the valid range?
Sensor Failure - Does you sensor appear stuck or repeat the same value throughout the day?
Neighbor Check - Does your station agree with other nearby stations?

If your data passes all of these quality control (QC) checks, it will appear on our website and apps.

If you station is continuously passing our quality control process for 5 consecutive days, your station will be flagged as gold star.
You can tell whether your station is gold star by logging into your WU account on our website www.wunderground.com
Go to My Profile > My Weather Stations

Interesting, but the fact that my station received a gold star, lost it,  received another and then lost it within a span of 5 hours kinda' shows that it's not exactly true.

Sounds like their algorithm is 99% temper, one percent mental.

Having seen lately how their website loads my page sometimes, I wouldn't be surprised if the Gold Star server has the same issues.

If it weren't for the adblocker extension in my browser doing its job, I'd never visit the WU website. Ever.

RIP the Goldstar concept?

My 3 stations no longer have a gold star, and my check of several nearby stations resulted in not finding a single gold star station. If true, probably the right decision by WU as the concept has turned into a joke—well documented in this Forum, in several different threads.

I checked within 100 miles of my location and didn't find any with gold stars.

Since all the great ( ya I'm kidding ) software updates probably reset the system that WU uses for the gold star ( two monkeys and a dart board ) so you  should start seeing them  again in 4 or 5 day's . You all know WU/IBM quality is job 1  #-o #-o #-o #-o ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

IBM’s stock price climbed 7.2% today. Probably the result of staff cuts associated with maintaining the now apparently deceased Goldstar concept.  [tup]

Naw.  They melted them down and bought back a bunch of shares to prop up the price.

I still have a 1st place ribbon that I won in the potato sack race in 3rd grade. About the same value, really.

Not me, all I’ve got are lots of little feet surrounding my temp icon. Sometimes it does actually look like a little spider.

If you have anything from 3rd grade- it must be extremely valuable to you.   [tup]

Tis better to have had a gold star and lost than never to have had a gold star at all.
