this point was rather unclear to me - and I asked Ecowitt for clarification - as soon as I get their reply, I'll post it here.
Normally OTA means over-the-air e.g. using "WiFi" or Bluetooth etc. - but here it's not fully clear what they mean exactly and how to figure out the WiFi modem firmware ...
Especially as the WiFi firmware of the console is already (and only) updated OTA (here via WiFi)

The acronym OTA normally means Over The Air, usually relates to updates over wifi. But we will wait and see what Ecowitt means!

I'm all for doing FW updates via Wi-Fi rather than taking the micro SD card out which eventually corrupts it!

I hope that's what this is.

I hope that's what this is.
But without the SD card you cannot update the device firmware of the console (at least until now).
Only the WiFi firmware which is responsible for postings to the weather services or using the custom server can be updated via WS View Plus.

Ecowitt replied
"Only with easyweatherpro wifi firmware that version is started after 5.*.*.
So if your current wifi firmware is 1.6.4, it is not possible to upgrade as this version is not possible to upgrade to 5.*.* version. Only those console shipped with 5.*.* can be upgraded."

conclusion from this text:
a) the OTA refers to the WiFi firmware only
b) there are meanwhile two types of WiFi firmware - one called EasyWeather and one called EasyWeatherPro
latest EasyWeather firmware is 1.6.4
c) there have been (most likely HP2560) consoles which were shipped with a new WiFi modem for which the firmware EasyWeatherPro 5.x.y applies.
So, they also can be updated OTA i.e. practically speaking by the help of the WSView Plus App.
The update for the EasyWeatherPro (V.5.0.x) is initiated inside the console by entering the "Factory" page / "about" page.
Only EasyWeather V. >= 1.6.4 can be updated via WS View [Plus].

If you have lately purchased a HP2551 (or even a HP2560) console, you can check its firmware by pressing the gear wheel button 4 times, "Factory" page, and check under "About" whether your firmware version is still an EasyWeather 1.x.y or already an EasyWeatherPro 5.x.y

For the consoles with the newer WiFi modem, the update to a newer WiFi firmware version can be started by visiting the Factory/about page.

EDIT: update process edited for clarification and deleting wrong update statement for EasyWeatherPro

happy they they inclued the ability to change the rain gain for the WS90.

I have two arrays reporting to my console (WS69 and WS90). Can anybody confirm the first rain gain setting is for the WS69 and the rest are for the WS90? thanks.

you could find out yourself by deactivating the WS90 from the HP2551 console and see what remains ...
With no WS90 connected the piezo gain data should disappear as they do in WS View Plus with a WS90 connected/disconneted to/from a GWyx00.
They should - but don't  - I checked with my HP2551 with no WS90 connected and the piezo rain gains are still shown ...
The "rain gain" without "piezo" in front should be the traditional rain gauge

10. Change "Radiation compeansation" to "Temperature Compensaiton" wording.

I'm glad that it's considered temperature compenstation but I don't have one of these consoles and really wonder if they changed compensation, still spelling it incorrectly.  If only they would make the strings in their firmware available publicly so we could correct their spelling.

Just had a rain event and I can confirm that the first entry is indeed for the conventional rain gauge as that is reporting the same number as another Gateway is reporting with no Piezo gauge
