UVI way off ?
« on: March 31, 2020, 08:01:56 AM »
Hi everyone. I have this WH3000SE y shape array on my roof (can't remember what its real name is sorry!), it has a UVI sensor, but it seems to be way off. Maybe its some unit i don't know of? My local weather service report a maximum of 3.1 while my own report a max of 6! My father in law has one like mine and lives around 5 miles from here but his report 7.

Do i need to do some adjustments, or is it just not in the same unit maybe?

I would say that your station is more likely accurate.
A reading of 6 and possibly 7 is now possible on a clear sunny day around the middle of the day in your location.

A reading of 3 would suggest they were expecting more cloudy/misty conditions in the forecast.

Thanks for the clarification Mandrake. I wasn't really sure what value to expect in defferent conditions. My wife is very sensitive to high UV, so having a very local means of measurement is very nice, just needed to know if it was closer to being correct than not :)

I'd caveat any reading from these stations with caution, a properly calibrated UV sensor is expensive. I imagine these sensors will provide an approximate reading.
