WMR968 replacement

After 20 years, the anemometer on my WMR968 is no longer transmitting.  I either need a compatible anemometer, or a new weather station which will connect to a computer (USB or Serial) so I can use the VWS software to update CWOP.  I suspect the 3.6v tri-cell battery is dead and I cannot find a replacement.  I found the individual cells, but three of them are over $40 and the system uses three of those batteries.  So either a new anemometer which will talk to the WMR968, or a new weather station.  Any recommendations?  If I end up upgrading, I will have several components from three WMR968 systems available.
