Has anyone hacked up a heater for the rain gauge in a 5-n-1? I'm in an area where we get a fair amount (over 70" last year; but that was an anomaly - typically 1-3" inches in a storm, and 10-20 storms/season) of snow and I'd like to get an accurate reading on the water content.
I'm thinking (w/o a LOT of research, but some) that a couple of 5 W resistors strategically placed (and externally powered) would probably generate enough heat, but would like some confirmation on that and some thoughts on placing the resistors, or, if someone has tried heating tape, or some other solution, or if it's waste of time to consider because of the proximity of the temperature sensors.
