Meteo-Pi Ethernet, low console battery warning
« on: September 28, 2024, 01:48:00 PM »
Hi!

I just installed a Meteo-Pi Ethernet in place of an old weatherlink IP.
Everything works correctly, my weewx instance is able to fetch the data correctly, but the console is saying "Low console battery".
indeed, the Meteo-PI data screen shows "Batt: 3.17V" which is way below 5V.
I'm measuring 5V with a multimeter, but I think I'm having a voltage drop because I'm not providing enough power.
I don't have a classic setup, the Meteo-Pi Ethernet is powering the console, but I have a POE setup, in which the meteo-pi ethernet is powered through a POE splitter (a trendnet TPE-104GS).
My POE switch is listing 880mW for the combo splitter + meteo-pi ethernet.
Any idea how much the meteo-PI ethernet should consume?
Is there anybody that had this issue when powering the station through the Meteo-PI Ethernet?

Thanks!

As a matter of experiment, I'm now powering the console with its regular power supply, and I still get the same "low console batteries" message (to be noted that the console have no batteries).
Next step, power the meteo-pi ethernet with a regular power-supply and not through POE.
