Thursday night I was quite glad that the Stillwater Jazz Band concert featuring KFOR's meteorologist Emily Sutton as special guest singer was not canceled. She can sure sing "Over The Rainbow" pretty. The conductor started off saying, "Wow, look at this. These are the bravest people in the world. And dumbest." Turnout was close to being packed in the 710 seat auditorium. Emily's husband, inlaws, and her mother from Chicago were there. The whole concert went pretty good.
What program said about Emily:
Our special guest vocalist for tonight's concert is Emily Sutton. Emily Sutton joined the 4Warn Storm Team just before the infamous "Christmas Eve Blizzard" (2009) as the first female meteorologist at KFOR-TV. Sutton is a born performer and has been singing her entire life, including musicals, show choir, gospel choir and a paid traveling performance group at the University of Missouri. She has had the honor of singing the National Anthem for NASCAR in Bristol TN and for OKC Thunder Basketball. A huge jazz fan, Sutton is thankful for this opportunity to sing with a Big Band and support the local arts.
