USB Data Logger not communicating on higher temperatures
« on: March 11, 2024, 05:22:17 AM »
Hello Davis Community,

We have a weather station with the Vantage Pro2 Console, with a USB data logger installed. This has been active since Nov 2023. The temperatures on the installation site has been low until mid Feb.

Since the last 2 weeks, we see a peculiar problem. Once the day temperature increases above 27/28 deg C, We are unable to communicate to USB data logger, as there is NO response from the console from the PC. During the evening or night, when the temperature drops below 27/28 deg C the console starts responding to the PC's commands. And continues to function normally until next morning/noon.

This has been consistently happening since the past 2-3 weeks, when the room temperature has seen an increase due to summer. A physical inspection of the Console, USB data logger etc shows they are "cool" and there is no sign of any extra heat near or on the Console (and above USB data logger).

As I said, during this period, there is no data sent from the console on the USB port, no requests (Wakeup, TEST, LOOP, Dump etc) from the PC are being responded by the Console / USB data logger. However, the USB port itself is recognised by the PC (Silicon Labs CP210x UART Bridge), indicating the USB data logger is indeed active.

Any help to resolve this is appreciated.

EDIT: The Console is active during the period, collecting weather stats from the weather station. It shows the current data on the screen. In the evening, when we are able to connect to the Console via USB, we are able to Dump all the historic data from the Console including the duration when the Console was not responding. All weather stats is indeed stored on the Console and no weather stats data is lost. Just that, we are not unable to communicate with the USB console during parts of the day.
