My WU account disappeared
« on: January 31, 2020, 09:07:58 PM »
I just discovered that my WU account no longer exists, partly. I'm still sending data to WU and my WU iOS app still shows my data, but the app that I normally use, which also always showed my data no longer does and my station, KMELIVER4 is not in the list of PWS stations. Nor can I log into my account ("this email address not found"). In fact, the system allowed me to make a new account, using the email address and password from the account that I've always had, though it wouldn't let me register a station, at least at that time. After making that new account, I deleted it. It did not have my KMELIVER4 station ID in it. Apparently my account no longer exists, since I was able to make a new one using the same email address and password. If I do an internet search on my station ID, I do find a page with my current data, but on the regular WU page, my station is not there, as it always used to be. I emailed WU PWS support but have received no reply. I once had a phone number to reach them but I seem to have lost it. I'm not sure what to do and I'm not sure when this happened. Perhaps when IBM took over. I'm quite sure that if I were to delete my station from the WU app, I would not be able to select it again, as it almost certainly wouldn't be available. For now, that part is working. I also have a WU API.

Just FYI, any contact information you might have had from several years ago is invalid.  They fired all those people.  You'll never get a response to email, either.

You didn't say whether you were using the website or the iOS app, but they are now two separate logins with no connection between them.

And I use both the website and the WU iOS app, but mostly I use an iOS app called WeatherMate, which used to be set to my own PWS.

Your WU page  is working here : https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KMELIVER4 And as far as the app if you read through some of the other threads you will find that some apps / widgets / secondary weather programs are all down because of the new and improved WU ( heavy sarcasm ) .

Yes, I can see my station and its data at that address, but I can't log into the account associated with my station (KMELIVER4). I get "email not found" ( and as an experiment I tried making a new account with that same email address and password and was able to, which I shouldn't have been able to do. I then deleted that new account). So I know that my supposedly current account, the one I've always used, and that goes with KMELIVER4, is no longer "valid", though the station data still shows. And, my station is not in the list of local stations, as it used to be. So I can't add it to any app. I just made a new account, using a different email address and password, and I can't add KMELIVER4 as a favorite there either, as it isn't listed, though doing a search on KMELIVER4 finds it (but still won't let me add it as a favorite, to the aforementioned new account). Furthermore, in the new account that I made, it won't let me register a PWS at all. It just sits on the page when I click "Next" and nothing happens. What a total conundrum.

What a total conundrum.

There was a time when this was one of the things that IBM would actually deal with if you sent an email  Unfortunately Victoria Gardner, the person who could handle it, has not been on the API support site for three months so you can pretty much assume she's gone now.  The only one who appears to still be active there is Tim Roche, but I don't know what he is empowered to do.  He's one of the few holdovers from the "original" WU 15 years ago and is one of the big dogs in charge of the new API and is part of the "Watson" team which sucks up all your data.

Best chance at getting the login issue fixed is to contact them @ https://support.weather.com/

Are you sure this is for WU? It seems to be The Weather Channel. Am I missing something?

Oops, I lost the final parmenter when I copy/pasted the URL.
https://support.weather.com/s/?language=en_US&type=wu

Although at the base site when you click the "Email us" button in the "What weather brand do you need help with?" drop down is a Weather Underground choice.

I saw it referenced on the API forum as being the new integrated support portal for all three of IBM's weather brands. Of course like everything with WU right now it's in state of flux while they transition systems.

That's absurd and I think you know it. An RF link cannot ever be more positive and reliable than a hardwired connection. If you have nothing helpful to contribute, why comment?

No, I don't know it. Besides the fact that Davis's wireless technology makes it immeasurably easier to deal with than running a cable, seeing wireless VP2 problems on this forum compared to cabled is non-existent, and I've been here a while or so. My wireless VP2 is 14 this summer in the Arizona heat/sun and has never skipped a beat, ever. It only took me 12 years to finally replace the ISS battery as well.

As far as contributing...
