New record number of listeners on my oddcast link
« on: October 18, 2007, 09:17:16 PM »
My area has been having some pretty rough weather tonight - My WU listener number went over 25.  I grabed an image at 21:

Looks like it could be nasty into the wee hours of the morning.   I've had 300 hits on my site since 6:00pm :shock:

Yeah, we're getting pounded up here in MI, too ... by the same system. As you say, sounds like it could continue much of the night. Some of these boomers are really sheared. A lot of rotation out there.

I am also streaming noaa data now. So far I have not shown up in the radio station list (4 days now, 3 e-mails). Best way to hear it is to visit my web page and follow the link. Reception is not perfect, sorry.

Thanks,
Anthony

Was hoping to get this working and start broadcasting this weekend but other things took precedence :sad:....hopefully next weekend. I see in the documentation for the Oddcast setup it shows:
    *  Public Server: Check
    * Stream Description: "Your Town, State" Weather Radio
    * Stream Description: NOAA Weather Radio
    * Stream URL: http:/www.wunderground.com/
    * Stream Genere: Weather

For item #2, is that your own location or the location name of the NWR transmitter you'll be broadcasting?

I put my own location there.  On Wunderground's station listing page though I still showed up with the transmitter city rather than my town.

Finally got my streaming noaa wx radio station up and running! :-) It's available at:
http://audiostream.wunderground.com/gooselakewx/morris.mp3.m3u
Comments/suggestions on audio quality appreciated.

No real problems although the WU instructions need a bit of updating regarding finding the correct lame dll. Now I need to figure out a nice way to add it to my web page. ;)

Bill,

It sounds fine other than a bit of "hum".

You can make a simple device to elimate the problem.

Just tuned in to your broadcast and it sounds great on this end. I did not hear any hum.

Sounds like you have a good signal.  I did hear the hum but it was low enough with my audio settings I had to put my ear on my laptop's speakers to hear it.  Probably would not have noticed it if I was not listening for it.

Good clear signal. I can still hear the hum, but it's not that bad. Wish my signal sounded that good.

Thanks,
Anthony

Thanks for all the comments. :-) Glad the signal is strong as the transmitter is about 25-30 miles away. I'm using an external antenna on a tower. I do hear a hum...not overbearing...but definitely there. I hope to have time next weekend or so to try wuhu's advice.
