I'm all in for fixing it and no more of this annual torture. MX is still on the old schedule so I have to deal with my station here on one time and the one there on another cycle twice a year.

I'm for a fixed time also, I don't care what it is. The only possible argument I've heard that makes any sense, was kids would be going to school when its dark. News flash!! Its dark anyway, school starts at 8am, sunrise is around 8:20am here in December on standard time. How about the schools adjust their schedule for 9:00 am start time if its an issue and stay out of our lives and leave the clocks alone.

Here's the video if you missed it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4EUTMPuvHo

With4 hours daylight in December kids are going to school in the dark and come home in it also. In most northern tier states that dark argument doesn't hold water. I say just stay on DST and that give people an hour or so in the evening that they wouldn't have. Beside with 24 light  in mid summer who need DST anyways.

I was spoiled, didn't change any clock for 40 years. Arizona tried DST once but business suffered, the late summer sunset kept people at home because of the heat, by the time it was cool enough to get out people were turning in for bed, hurting restaurants, bars etc.

TX had a bill to end it this year but it was defeated when someone whined that it conflicted with his going to church and also watching the football game? Don't suppose it ever occurred to him that the church might change it's service time? Tells you a lot about what's important in TX, so millions of us suffered through another bi-annual pain in the tail feathers.

Tally it all up, and the three-week DST extension in the Spring of 2007 saved the country $246 million, according to Doleac and Sanders.

“Assuming a linear effect in other months, the implied social savings from a permanent, yearlong change in ambient light would be almost 20 times higher,” they conclude, or several billion dollars annually.

Hmm, 20 times higher?
So, they think we are currently observing 60 weeks of Standard Time during the winter?

Not to mention, the savings will decrease as you get closer to the Winter Solstice.
