Ok, now that you're done scoffing at "cr-3000 and frugal," my university has a couple CR3000s that have been offline for a couple years. I am working to repair our stations at make them useful/sustainable/easily maintained in the future.

If spending big bucks were on the plate, I would obviously just order from campbell.

Any suggestions or ideas on how to get my off-site stations transmitting and accessible to campus (5-10 miles) would be appreciated.

I'm even open to "it would be cheaper to pull the loggers out and replace them with "something else that works with my sensors and will accomplish the transmission goal"

Thanks, and don't be afraid to give some useful answers that may not be a complete solution.

Did the university purchase them originally or did Campbell donate them?

Either way, have you considered getting Campbell to be a benefactor now?

They were purchased by a professor (under a grant) who is no longer with the university.  They have been sitting neglected (but very much intact) for a few years now.

I have not considered it, but just looked through their grant programs and will contact them. Thank you for the direction. :)

That sounds hopeful. Thanks for the follow up.

It would be nice to see the map of the sensor placement when you're done.
