Good afternoon all ,i recently purchased a used Davis vantage pro 2 console and with it also came a USB data logger ,so my question can the cable and the CD from data logger to PC be purchased separately ,or would I also have to buy everything in a package deal ;Thanks
-
There is nothing really special with the USB cable and the CD (I assume WeatherLink software for PC) can be freely downloaded from the WeatherLink.com site, you just need to create a stupid account
-
If you're wanting to use Weatherlink with the USB, here's the full build of 6.0.3, no strings attached.

Thanks a million!!!! ,so if I plug the data logger into my 10 year old vantage pro 2 console will I be able to move all of my weather data from last 10 years onto weather link on PC ?

No, not even close. IIRC, the VP2 console can only store 3 weeks worth of data. The data logger itself is limited also depending on your archive interval. If you want to store long term, you'll need to put it somewhere else. My long term stuff is on my PC itself.

Ok thanks one more question,i can't seem to find a USB Mini-B female to male USB adapter on eBay from data logger to PC would that cable have to be purchased directly from Davis ?
-
Oh I wouldn't think so, it's a common item I believe. Something like Best Buy or the like should do.
-
BTW, I forgot one important thing, the maximum length of the cable should not exceed 16 feet for technical reasons I don't understand.
-
Ok thanks the mini USB connector on my logger is male but when i look on the cable from Davis that end is also male ,so what am i missing here ? https://www.davisinstruments.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/7330-061_750x518.jpg

My logger is ~8 years old and is definitely a female connector. The pic you linked of the cable appears correct with the male end.
-
OK!!!! that is the problem my end on logger is MALE ,Oh well I have come a long ways I will di into it deeper tomorrow ;Thanks for all the help folks
-
Evidently they changed it. :???:
-
I just looked at it closely it is Female, i must have had a brain fart ,definitely ready for a thicker pair Lol
-
Sweet! You should be ready to go after getting your cable. GL!
-
Oh, BTW again, don't know if you got a manual(s) with the VP2/logger, important that you remove a/c and battery power before installing or removing the logger, otherwise it may get a boo-boo.
-
OK that is good to know ,i definitely might not have cut the power
-
Update finally got VP2 connected and running to PC works like a charm ,now i will have to find and read the manual to figure out how to start broadcasting ;Thanks again for all the support
