One ISS, Two Consoles, Two Readings
« on: July 04, 2020, 11:58:36 PM »
I have one ISS sending data to two consoles on channel 2. Both consoles show temperatures and humidity that are different. What would cause this? I'm in a rural area with no other weather stations near me. I'm confused.

Are the clocks set to the exact same time?

Calibration difference - check calibration.
Even if set to same channel maybe one is picking up neighbor's station - change channel on ISS.

The clocks are maybe a few minutes apart. Would that matter much?

I'm in a rural area. Nobody else within miles has a Davis station.

Give us some examples of the T/H differences. As galfert says, are you sure that one or other console doesn't have eg a temperature calibration offset?

The ambient temperature is running about 1゚ to 1.5 degrees different between consoles and the dew point temperature is 1゚ different between consoles.

I will check the calibration to make sure both are 0.

Well that was it. I don't remember ever having done it, but one console had a -1 calibration for outside temp which of course throws off the humidity. Doh!! It's always the simple things that I overlook. Thanks everyone!

But if you have a new replacement temp/humidity sensor you would need the -0.9°F adjustment on both consoles to be accurate. New sensors require this adjustment (for some console revisions). You wouldn't want it to be zero.

So after reading that article it sounds like the calibration only needs to be done if you have incompatible transmitter board and sensor. Since my ISS is new with factory components I shouldn't have to do that at the console right?

Thanks.  Not sure how that happened, but glad I finally discovered it.  Funny thing is, I always thought my AcuRite station running next to it was reading high and it turns out it's pretty close afterall.
