Title: Status Indicator.
Post by: Phil23 on September 02, 2019, 08:19:27 PM
Hi All,

Have had a bit of a search but turned up nothing.

In the Web interface of my Blue, in the top right corner near the station number there's a lightning bolt.
Changes colour to indicate something relating to status, but haven't found an explanation as yet.

Can anyone enlighten me or provide a link to more current info on the interface?

Thanks

Phil.

This thing to be more precise.
Changes thru a variety of colours.

Think I've seen Red, Green, Yellow, two shades of Blue & quite a few more.

Also notice the rings light up on occasions as well.

Thanks.

I could see the link http://www.blitzortung.org appear when I hovered on the icon, but nothing happens when I click on it.

That got me thinking on the track that the Icon was some sort of status indicator.

Will be able to relax now & stop trying to relate colours to status values.

Cheers

Edit.
Although the link won't work for me, I just noticed all the right-click actions work on it in both IE & Chrome.

Same thing on FF. The "open in new tab" works. Strange that the link shows up on the bottom left of the browser window, but the link "won't go"....

Maybe it's some new "security" feature or something in the current browsers.

Try 'double click' on the icon

Worked in FireFox.

Double Click??? :-o

I don't think that I have ever seen a weblink that required a double-click before, but now I have....

Yeah, double click... which is, I agree, bizarre for a 'non-desktop' link setting...  I know that usually works on IE11, FF, and Edge... and my android phones, and Kindle Fire... not always, but mostly... sometimes a single click even works... depends on controller state, browser cache, etc... It's quirky

Now, I'm certainly poorly qualified, but there are various issues using SVG, especially those with 'animation' in <a...> tags... sometimes they just don't work correctly ... and there are about a million 'fixes'... and about as many reasons....

One reason, here, I suspect strongly, is the available memory in the controller... many of the scripts are NOT installed locally, but are called externally... javascript, etc... , and the 'intent' to be as cross-platform as possible.

Anyway, I stopped worrying about whether that 'link' worked several firmwares ago... Sometime TOBI may get around to updating the firmware, especially with more important functional 'glitch fixes' and operational features, such as DSP, Reboot, etc...  when everything is finalized on main BT data processing.

This irritating link 'quirk' certainly has nothing to do with optimizing station and data quality

The Slight quirks generally don't worry me, but the animation did have me thinking it was something I should know how to interpret.

Other thing I'm noticing since the latest upgrade is that the Reboot doesn't seem to work.

Just wandered up to the shed & watched while I "Rebooted" it from my phone.
Nothing happened.

Cheers.

Ignore my ignorance.....

:D Be Gentle with yourself... Blitzortung is a Living, Changing, Experimental, Hobbyist network... constantly evolving and it thrives on folks with a passion for it, ... willing to stick their necks out .. especially when we all have different EM, Meteorological, geophysical, e.g. environments, and various educational and experiential backgrounds and  personalities...

There are more 'kownn issues' , thoughts, suggestions, tricks, etc than anyone can shake a stick at... lots of times it's a matter of searching the BT forum boards, this board, but chances are it's there somewhere... but almost impossible to find at times... even attempts to catalog them into a 'living' document, or wiki, don't suceed because of the system Generations, and constant 'evolution'....

Part of the fun...  :D

So keep the faith... stick your neck out if you can't find an answer in the histories...    once in a very great while an old-timer like me might inadvertently throw some crap comment out, but don't take it seriously...  it may be the 50th time I've seen the 'subject' pop up, and this idiot forgets that I was once in the exact same position and the answer wasn't easily found.

...ain't it fun?
