Switching from Ambient IP Observer to Ecowitt GW1000
« on: November 19, 2021, 07:13:39 PM »
I am currently reporting to CWOP/MADIS through Ambient/CWOP  I would like to use My Ecowitt GW1000 to send this data. Is there a way to do this and keep my existing station identifiers?

This is what I am using now:   https://i.postimg.cc/hPyB1bk2/observerip.jpg   but I think it may be starting to fail. It is intermittently losing packets. I was hoping to see if there was a way to use the GW1000 although this is the cheapest I have seen these Weather Bridges in quite a while.Using a GW1000/1100 has it's advantage that a lot of Ambient equipment can be used with it.

Nearing my 2 years with the AW meteobridge. Think it's $100 to continue with updates.

This is why I'm also looking for another way to send to CWOP that is simple.

Since the last update of the AW Meteobridge I am having some issues with iit sending to AW dot net. Not much response on the boards but you can have a look. It still works fine for sending to cwop and other places.

I'd recommend getting a raspberry pi (if you can) and run WeeWx.
WeeWx has an extension to receive data from the GW1000, then WeeWx will send to CWOP.

Why not ask CWOP?  They have always been helpful to me.   cwop-support@noaa.gov
