Any sources of US maps of ice accumulation?

(1/1)

tedroche:
Can anyone suggest a source of (US) maps for ice accumulation? We've recently had a couple of storms in the MidAtlantic and Northeast that spread ice far and wide, Kansas to DC, and Illinois to Massachusetts, but I haven't found a source that maps the reports on a large scale. A local meteorologist posted the question on BlueSky and I searched around without much luck.

Here's a couple I've found but with little data or too small a range:

* CoCoRaHS has an Ice Accretion Pilot project but it's basically a jotform and PPT training. No mapping nor analysis yet.
* https://www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/interactive/html/map.html has lots on snow, but no (d)ice.
* Somebody's working on it: https://www.weather.gov/source/crh/icemap.html?sid=lot but little data

To answer my own question  #-o messing around with the page at

https://www.weather.gov/source/crh/icemap.html?zoom=6&lat=41.79&lon=-78.46&hr=72

would get me the map I was looking for, given a bit of time zooming and panning and tweaking the settings.

Note that this page only lets you look back 72 hours, so grab your data asap!
