My yard looks out about 220 ft. It's the first HD camera I have so picture is clearer.
I am still considering getting one of these. Been hearing and seeing alot of good things about these cameras. Here is one on New Egg for $91. Might replace my DLink with this one and put the DLink looking at my back door. :-)

I do know that there are apparently two types floating around for sale. One has Chinese language firmware and one has English language firmware. You have to be careful which one that you get or you will be very disappointed!.
There is an entire forum devoted to IP cameras and they have a sub forum just for Hikvision cameras. There are a lot of folks on there that know about all of the software quirks of that particular camera. I do know that there are apparently two types floating around for sale. One has Chinese language firmware and one has English language firmware. You have to be careful which one that you get or you will be very disappointed! I have one and I have to say it is absolutely remarkable at how well the focal length and resolution is. Just amazing for the price. It is also well built with an all-metal case and good quality waterproof connectors. On my camera I can sit and watch individual raindrops fall to the ground. Just get the right camera and you will not be disappointed and wonder why we have been playing with toys. I am hesitant to name the IP camera forum as I don't know about the rules on this forum. Just Google it and its pretty easy to find.
Mine came in the plain box, yet it turned out to be the English language version. Don't use the little cd that comes with it as its worthless. There are several good YouTube videos describing the setup steps.
You go their website and download a program called SADP and it looks for the camera and you give it your own IP address. Then from that point you can log into the firmware from your browser window and configure it like you want.
Have been contemplating getting a camera for a long time, and this might be a good opportunity to do so. Just as an FYI, I looked through all of their authorized distributors, only 1 listed a price for that camera.
DS-2CD2032-I (http://www.yeselectric.com/index.jsp?path=product&part=964379&ds=mfr&process=search&qdx=0&ID=,HikVision)
My web page is pretty basic at the moment. It's there to serve my needs when I am out flying or when I want to check on cows on the runway etc.

Mine is on order. I thought on these cameras you have to insert the CD and change the IP from the default to one of your own and insert your Gateway IP. I will figure it out.
As a side note I was never able to get PoE to work on my camera. I am not sure what the problem is, but it was easy enough for me to use the secondary power input instead.
Not good at all. Has anyone else had success with POE?I have my DS-2CD2032-I running on PoE just fine. I use a TP-Link TL-SF1008P switch (4 PoE and 4 non PoE) to power it and another cam.
Not good at all. Has anyone else had success with POE? It uses 14 volts. Correction 12VDC ± 10%, PoE (802.3af)
Just got mine today and it came in a red and white box. =D>
Well I got the English version. Pretty tricky to set up since i have it connected to a router thats bridged to my main router. Don't have time to mess with it much because I have to go to work. but here is a quick picture. Looks good but could be better if I adjust settings and I ran out of time.

You should get one. They are excellent and cheap. Well built and small.

NetView from Amazon. It's a red and white box. :-P
Thanks Ryan, you pushed me over the edge. I have been wanting to get a webb cam for quite a while and this convinced me. Ordered from Amazon yesterday, same place you got yours. Hope I can figure out how to get it up and running.
Mark
What software are you guys using with the PoE camera's? Thanks
Nobody told me it was crooked. I fixed it. :-P
Nobody told me it was crooked. I fixed it. :-P
I spent a few days getting the aimed and playing with camera settings, so assumed you'd improve upon the initial setup. :-)
This is the same camera that I have and same company that I ordered from. Sold from NetView on Amazon. Hope this helps. 100% positive feedback thats why I took a chance with them and turned out to be great. Arrived on my doorstep in like 4 days.

I am also using the TP-LINK TL-PoE150S Gigabit PoE Injector with it connected to 100ft of Cat 5E cable.
http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-PoE150S-Gigabit-Injector-compliant/dp/B001PS9E5I/ref=pd_bxgy_p_text_y
The injector is plugged into a router in my garage thats bridged to my main router upstairs. I had to connect it to my main router before I connected it to the router in garage. Download SADP software from Hikvision's website and it will find your camera. Change the IP and the port to whatever you want and plug in your Default Gateway IP. Then change the port on the configuration page and port forward on your router. I have mine streaming with Webcam 7.
Here is a fiery sunset over Pikes Peak. The sun is BRIGHT!
Guess I wasn't paying attention when I ordered the camera. Was just looking at the pdf manual online and it gives system requirement of 1 gig of RAM and my old XP only has 512 meg. Oh well, just more money.

How do you like this camera compared to the axis 211 ??
I'm at break on my cell phone at work now but look at mine. There is a section for night mode. Tinker with the WDR and the gain for night mode. Mine is set to auto to switch to nighat mode.

How do you like the size of it Joe? When I first saw it I said wow. Did yours come in a red and white box and did you order from Netview on Amazon?
Christmas came early, got the camera today in the red and white box. Also got 2 gig of memory for the old XP machine. Memory installed and what a difference, now to figure out the camera. I was going to just set the camera looking out my upstairs window for the time being, but it isn't going to look very good. The windows are double glazed with low-e film on the inside of the inner pane. They are 26 years old and have gotten moisture in them so the picture will not be very clear. I need to borrow the neighbor's big ladder to mount the camera outside. Problem is, his ladder may be buried in the snow. The one thing I don't like, is having to drill a half inch hole though my wall. Wish me luck.
Mark
Just make sure to waterproof the connection at the camera.
All I get is a huge reflection in then window.
Mark,
I'm struggling with getting my IPTimelapse videos on my site. Haven't figured out the script that is needed on my site to have them there.
Even though it is very frustrating..... It really is enjoyable.... Once we get through it.
Joe
Give up.... never.
Sell me that camera, I'll make it work!
Snapper,
There is no save button on that setting. When you change the WDR pay close attention to the bottom of the page and it will have a green check mark and say Save succeeded.. It works on Chrome. When you raise the WDR number it adds more light to the image.
Select advanced configuration.

Still the same - nothing actually saving...
Out of interest, what firmware is on yours?

I never used the CD that came with the cam. I am using SADP software for the camera and it can be downloaded on the link below. How do you access your camera?
http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/download_more.asp?id=1120
I am using firmware V5.2.0 build 140721 and Encoding Version V5.0 build 140714.
I turned the IR on to capture the snow just to see what it looks like. Check it out.

Snow trails are even 'spookier' if you have a 'snow gauge' in the image... NWS loves snowcams... too bad I've no 'sno' to 'sho' in central KY at the moment....
Looks great - quite heavy  the snow trails look like loads of meteorites!
Hoping for snow this year over here as well, after last years wash out...
this is what i use to power my axis 211 cam if i were to get the hikvision cam would it work to power it??

No sun here today: ;)
Demand went up thanks to you.
Still haven't got mine on line, more important things to do today. You want snow!
Mark
Yes, I am located on the north side of US 40 between Tabernash and Granby, about two miles off the highway. My driveway is about two-tenths of a mile long, so I really love these snow storms.
The picture is from a Bushnell trail cam that cost considerably more than the HikVision. Am considering replacing it with another Hikvision.
Mark
Ryan your time lapse is excellent !! how often do you have it take a picture?
Sun just came out here after 2 days.
Sun just came out here after 2 days.
That's a really good picture. But is it supposed to be curved?
The camera will be here on Wednesday  am i going to need any other software to stream the video? i am using the axis 211 now and it doesn't need anything else and i notice you are using webcam 7 for the new camera and your axis isn't.
if i am not using any software now with the axis cam will i need to with the new one? is there any advantage to that program over using nothing?
thank you !! cameras are not my strong point lol is there a cost for the software ?? Are you able to tell how am i running it now without any software??
The way I read their website... Webcam XP is free for two camera's, and Webcam 7 is about $110.00. Correct me if I am wrong.
BLUE IRIS software is $40 on eBay for the pro version.

It is basically the exact same software. Webcam 7 is the new name. If you use 2 cams it is free.
I don't see anything that says the 7 is free... maybe I need glasses.

What do you have for cams now? Those picts look awesome. And yeah, I'm jealous. We havent seen the sun in a week.
i downloaded the webcam 7 software so i can familiarize myself with its settings and i was wondering with this new camera and the new software is there a limit on how many people can view the camera at once?? i think with my axis had a limit of 20

Ryan is your picture 2048 × 1536 1920 × 1080 or 1280 × 720 ?
Still struggling. My ISP forwarded the ports, and I downloaded webcamxp, I can not get the stream to open in wcxp. One thing I do remember, when I first opened the camera, the instructions said to install the plug-in before viewing the live video. I never got the screen prompting me to download the plug-in, the video just started in QuickTime. Could this be part of my problem?
This is a capture of the HV page.
Mark
got to the Network Camera Wizard. Information appeared correct. No idea what username and password it wants, so left blank. Hit test and got message HTTP/1.1 200 ok. Hit finish and got message "Error occurred while connecting video source"
Mark
Tried that to begin with, same results. See why I am so frustrated.
Mark
Which one to use?
Netcam Studio Client/Server 32 bit
Netcam Studio Client/Server 64 bit
Netcam Studio X

It maybe that WC XP cannot handle that camera. I had the same issue with WC7 Pro on my Full HD cams and switched to Netcam Studio and that is what I am using now with no problems what so ever. NetcamStudio is also a product of Webcam. Give it a try.... It's free for up to 4 cams.
OK. Webcam XP can't handle it so Joe is right. Download the free version of Webcam 7 that I posted earlier in this thread or try Netcam Studio.

Just ordered a Dell refurbed tower. Intel Core 4th Generation i3-4150 3M cache 3.5 GHz, 8 G of ram, and Windows 8.1 64-bit. Think it will work for a weather computer and webcams?
Mark
Got the Hikvision working with Netcam Studio. Here is how its done if anyone is interested. Download the 32bit version. Only the 32-bit version supports RTSP/MPEG4 cameras. Next log into your router and port forward ports 8100 and 8124 to your Internal IP of the PC that Netcam Studio will be running. Log in with the default IP server and Admin and 1234 for password. Click on browse and find the cam. Plug in the username and password used for the Hikvision configuration screen. Once the cam is loaded click on Settings/Access Control and add your External IP to the username and give it permissions. While you are in this screen change the default password of the default server to your liking. Then go to your External IP with the port 8100 and check to see if it is forwarded correctly. If it is forwarded correctly it will bring you to a log in page and proceed to the next step if not recheck router. Next click View and the click Generate HTML code. Copy and insert code into webpage and change width and height to your liking then change http://127.0.0.1:8100 to your External IP and port 8100 within the code. Done! You can load up to 4 cameras with the free version. Only bad thing is the watermark of the little bird at the bottom left but you can barely see it. :-) You can view mine running from the link below.

Thanks for the instructions Ryan. Hopefully I will be able to use them between Christmas and New Years. This Inexpensive web cam is now up to about $800 #-o, but at least I'll have a new computer.
Mark
Thanks Joe. Got a question for you. What do you do with your snow cam in the summer, and where did you get the measure sticks? If I ever get this cam up and running, I want to get another for a snow cam, but I will need to have a stick that goes considerably greater than 30 inches.

I think I will pass on these camera's... looks like they are way to difficult to set up.All cameras for public viewing streaming images/video need the port camera broadcast on forwarded. You need to understand the basics of logging into router and forward the port necessary. #1 you need to know what port to forward. #2 you need to have the ability to log into router and forward port. These ports are by default blocked.
Well, the dunce is back armed with a new computer and no closer to having camera online. I can access camera locally but that is it. Can someone explain to me where ports 8100 and 8124 are located so I can get them forwarded.
Thanks.
Mark
Thanks, but do I need to go into the camera settings and change the ports, I previously had forwarded, to 8100 and 8124 or do they just magically exist on the router? ](*,) ](*,) ](*,). i am beginning to think this camera was one big effing mistake.
Mark
Are you kidding me?
I think I have a stream online, finally. At least I can see it. Will someone let me know if it is working? At mbobier.com
Thanks,
Mark
I want to thank everyone for all the help in getting this thing going and putting up with my lack of knowledge.
Right now the camera is just sitting on my shredder looking out the front window. I am a little worried about the sun this time of year, that is why you can see the blind at the top. I also will probably have the blinds down at night because of the reflection if there are any lights on. Thinking about ordering another one to replace my trailcam that looks at driveway.
Thanks again, everyone.

Sorry Chris.
You don't have to change any port settings. At least not for WC7, and I suspect also for NetCam Studio, probably any other similar... but haven't tried it yet. Each cam is a separate device/server, and the default ports are fine. Just give each cam a separate address, and lock it in.... It did confuse  the heck out of me playing with multiple cams, port numbers, forwarding, etc, so reset all the cams, thought a few moments, and realized it wasn't necessary at all. Going brain-slow at almost 68, gotta stay simple, if possible. ](*,)

I hear ya Mike. I just wanted mine customized I guess. So when you bring up your external ip and the port , what shows up? How would you configure the Hikvisions if they are all on the same port? If you have 1 hikvision that's fine but I see a problem with more than one. I access mine with my external ip and port I used and it brings me to the log in. You could use the ip address of the cam and port but I went another route. And your 68 and still got it,you young chicken you.
Nope... don't have to assign it a port... just assign the address in the router to the MAC ID...
Now, I'm wondering if you're thinking "remote' access from the internet, to the controller...
As of now, I'm only thinking 'stream to web page'... IP cams are a new thing for me, so I've still
got a bunch to learn... I'll figure that part out later...
Oh boy!!!Yeah, somebody up north of me started this disease with a 'gift'... Mother always told me to be careful who I hung out with... never know what you'll catch from them....
I think Mike's got the IP Cam craze.... watch out Webcams.

I am kind of worried about the life of the cam with the direction I want to face it in the winter. It is facing SE and with the sun low in the sky, it is looking directly into the sun in the morning. With it currently inside, I can rotate it and lower the blinds to protect it, but once I get it mounted outside I won't have those options. It is only a problem in the winter and on sunny days, which we get lots of, so maybe I'll just see how long it lasts . Anyone have any experience withe any webcam facing into the low winter sun?Not with the Hikvision IPs... but 3 and a half years with a Logitech 920 USB facing WEST (sun all afternoon) hasn't hurt it so far.... sensors have changed quite a bit over the years.... =D>
Mark
Anyone have any experience with any webcam facing into the low winter sun?My Logitec 9000 has been facing SE for nearly 5 years, through a window, and no visual affect that I can see.

Yep... gotcha.
To access from external network, do this:
Port Forward
"External Port" say 8022
"Internal Port" leave at 80
"Device ID" the same address as specific camera... e.g. 192.123.1.203 for cam 3, say.
Access the cam 3 controller at your IP address "11.196.123:456:8022 So this simplifies it to only one port forward per camera, , no port changes in the camera software, or WC7 or other software, and is only necessary if you want to connect outside your LAN.
No need to change port. WC7 automatically assigns cam number (cam 1, cam 2 etc) based on how you connect them in the software. The only thing that needs to be assigned differently is the ip address to each camera and then forward the same port to the different ips in the router config.CHRIS... about 75° Horizontal ... it's a 4mm wide angle... some 'fisheye' effect right and left,... much more noticeable on near, vertical objects, or "Wide" horizontal objects. I found it best running 1980x1020, at 16x9 so far.
Mike, the cam looks awesome. Thanks for sharing.

I built the stand out of Black Walnut and sealed it with Tung Nut finish... may Fran rest in peace... great lady, with a great story... .
The 3 links you posted on page 12 of this thread are they all Hikvisions? I know the one looking at the snow gauge is but what about the other 2?
Is this the same? http://ca.dhgate.com/product/hikvision-2-8mm-4mm-lens-3-0mp-ip-camera/211580802.html/?utm_source=pla&utm_medium=GMC&utm_campaign=dragoneye2003&utm_term=211580802&f=bm%7c211580802%7c007003-CCTVProducts%7cGMC%7cAdwords%7cpla%7cdragoneye2003%7cCA%7c007003001-CCTVCamera%7cc%7c%7c0LRF%7c&gclid=CL6P4t_F9MICFcbtMgod2j8ARQ
What else would I need to get?
Paul
You also need a POE injector to drive it. I posted that link as well on page 3.
<?php
$url = 'http://admin:(password)@(Camera IP Address):(HTTP Port-8x)/Streaming/channels/101/picture';
$data = file_get_contents($url);
$protocol = 'ftp';
$hostname = '192.168.xxx.xxx'; // The FTP host computer
$username = '(username goes here)';
$password = '(password goes here)';
$directory = '/(ftp directory goes here)';
$filename = '(Whatever you prefer).jpg';
$connectionString = sprintf("%s://%s:%s@%s%s/%s",
$protocol,$username,$password,$hostname,
$directory,
$filename);
$options = array('ftp' => array('overwrite' => true));
$stream = stream_context_create($options);
file_put_contents($connectionString,$data, 0, $stream);
?>
To use this script via cURL you must be running a 'localhost' webserver, usually either via WAMP or XAMPP, which adds to the complexity and the burden on the host computer. I just called it 'HikVision-ftp.php'. And of course you must be running an FTP server.
I could see the Netcam Studio steam but the Webcam 7 one showed a blank box Jerry using Chrome
Same here using Firefox.Odd business, this. Both browsers show both streams here--port triggering is on for this port and it's tied to the computer running both Netcam Studio and Webcam7. On my phone with wi-fi disabled I don't see the Netcam Stream in Chrome. I guess for now viewers will just have to figure out what combination of browser and feed works for them. They all work here as designed on the external feeds.
Looks great! Thanks, Chris! I just added a 1920x1080 view (http://www.gwwilkins.org/hikvision-w7.php) (click through the 'Alert') to the Webcam7 page that activates when the image is clicked. I want to figure out how to detect the user's viewport and plug those dimensions into the stand alone 'hikvision-w7.php' script so the entire image displays within an unscrolled browser window. I found some javascript and jQueryideas out there on the net, but I had no luck with them before I ran out of patience. Obviously right now it's configured for only a tablet or desktop monitor.
Nice sunset Ryan,
It's fantastic! They're phenomenal cameras for the price. I'm replacing my Street View Camera with it, and today I just received a second one to replace my Patio View camera. It may be a few days before everything is set up the way I want. I plan mount it on a tripod by attaching the camera's base to a small piece of wood into the other side of which I'm going to insert a threaded tripod mount I picked up at the hardware store. I also ordered a small, flat indoor 3MP Hikvision DS-2CD2432F-IW wi-fi capable Hikvision via AliExpress (English firmware) which will take several weeks to get here. I'm anxious to see the quality of the picture it provides as well. I'm not sure yet how I'm going to use this one.Nice sunset Ryan,
Thanks Randy. Hey Jerry how are you liking the Hikvision?
I've set up my two HikVision DS-2CD2032-I's to my street view (http://www.gwwilkins.org/wxwebcampagestatic4.php) and my patio view (http://www.gwwilkins.org/wxwebcampagestatic5.php). There are links to the Netcam Studio streaming videos on the lower right in each view, and from those pages you can access the Webcam7 feeds. All of these views are independently accessible via the Saratoga template menu system. Both can stream from Netcam Suite and Webcam7, and I think do it simultaneously but I haven't thoroughly tested this. If anyone needs the details, I can fill you in.Jerry, WC7 should stream any or all cameras, and save stills also.... either in "Gallery" or with "scheduler"... I've been using it for years. It's possible the free version has those restrictions...
It turns out that the Webcam7 FTP static image save only works for one camera, so I've reverted to my standalone FTP scripts and cURL on a computer that's running an Apache webserver via WAMP in order to obtain my static views every minute. I've turned off the Webcam7 static image FTP in order to reduce a little of the already at times heavy load on my LAN.
I may try to combine the views onto one page via javascript, but I'm content with they way it is for now. Another project beckons later this morning.
...I have registered both Webcam7 and Netcam Suite in order to be able to more fully explore their capabilities.
Jerry, WC7 should stream any or all cameras, and save stills also.... either in "Gallery" or with "scheduler"... I've been using it for years. It's possible the free version has those restrictions...
I've located no program that does all I'd like, that can really be depended on... part of the fun is 'work around'....!

Excellent cameras, so good I'm going to stock them alongside my other weather equipment in the UK.
First ones arrived today, so I seem and evening of 'testing' ahead :) I'll publish links to any live streams etc so that people can take a look at the images. I don't think anyone has shown images from the slightly more expensive model with 30m IR :)
This is the HikVision DS-2CD2432F (http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/products_show.asp?id=9842).Excellent cameras, so good I'm going to stock them alongside my other weather equipment in the UK.

How much more expensive? Can you post a link?
Decided to join the Hikvision owners, ordered the same one Ryan has from same dealer also. HIKVISION DS-2CD2032-I 3MP 4mm Outdoor HD DWDR IR Bullet
I want to mount toward the top of my 30' anemometer tele-pole for a better sky & horizon view instead of just the yard and driveway. I won't know what kind of view I'll get until I mount the camera however. I don't expect anything spectacular but it should be more informative of what's coming.
Thanks Ryan, Yes I ordered the injector that senses power needed and 150' of cat cable. My main concern is mounting camera on pole, I'll have to figure that out once it gets here.

Well mine came in the white and reddish box. For some reason can't see the stream in Netcam studio. Gave a try with 32 bit also. Ideas or what I'm doing wrong?

Ryan to the rescue..We got netcam7 going. Ryan suggested running in administrator mode and it worked. Connected first time. =D> , Thanks RyanAfter sleeping on it, there was one other thing on the Webcam7 software done differently. My stardot camera profile was already in camera 1 slot even though not running, I was using it with netcam studio software at the time. When it finally connected the stardot profile got replaced by the Hikvision in that #1 camera slot. Just some info should others run into it. Possibly the #1 camera has to be occupied with running camera first. I would also run in the administration mode just to make sure.
Just save the settings and problem solved. Not if router reassigns! Been there!

I understand "save settings"... but not if the router reassigns!
Oh well, thanks Ryan I was watching it snow at your place this morning.
Mounted on north end of garage for a better NW sky view. I like the image especially considering cost of camera. This is a full HD streaming view.Nice sharp video, Randy. \:D/ It looks a little dreary and blustery there today, but I'm not one to talk. It's about the same here.
Forgot the link: http://www.valentinenebraska.net/stream7.php
So the 4mm lens should show about 60 degrees FoV at 1080p? I'm wondering about getting the 2.8mm lens and trying to get more sky (70 to 80 degrees FoV) and balancing that with the increase in image curvature. Hmm... Any thoughts on that?4 mm has about 75° width and 60° ± azimuth. About the same as a Logitech C910 or C920 Pro with the Hubble Fix. NWS and others generally don't like to view 'fisheye'...
Looks good, more sky but I also thought the ground level shot of roadway adds something to look at.
No mic. Your right. If it sways in the wind your cam would be a shaky stream.

Mark I never used the SADC software myself. I used the Hikvision Client Software iVMS-4200 v2.00.08.50 when I changed my port addresses and IP. Went into device management, server tab and changed the addresses there with modify button. Needed to change in both device management and online separately for whatever reason changing just one side didn't affect the other. Not sure if this is the recommended way but it worked without any snag. This is the procedure I also followed. One key element that repeatedly tripped me up was the failure to enter the default password, '12345', when I was trying to change the IP address and then the password and ports. Failure to use the HikVision Client Software, which I downloaded from the HikVision site and installed in advance of receiving my cameras, to change the IP address can cause a browser-based connection to be problematic if you change the IP address to a different subnet, in my case from 192.168.1.x to 192.168.2.x. I use a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 in order to easily connect to the camera via either of my 192.168.x.1 subnets.
Jerry in chrome I had to download plugin and right click and load each time. Then hit the arrow button on player window for camera to appear. So that's the trick I never discovered. Thanks!
I will say their software interface is not nearly as good as the stardot cameras but then for 1/4 the price I can live with it.I agree that the Stardots are initially much more user-friendly, but mine are 5 or more years old now with numerous dead pixels that show up at night. For 1/4 the price I can put up with no dead pixels and a more cumbersome initial access technique. HIkVision also sells much pricier box cameras, but the one that's the most intriguing to me is the outdoor PTZ capable camera with a wiper (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Auto-tracking-ptz-Security-camera-1080p-ip-camera-30x-IR-150m-Hikvision-ptz-ip-camera-support/32253894246.html). Unfortunately there's no mention of English firmware with this camera, nor is it found on Amazon. This generic camera (http://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Tracking-Camera-700tvl-Security/dp/B00DPSBV1G/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422621778&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=HikVision+ptz+ip+camera+with+wiper) looks similar to the HikVision, but firmware language and reliability would be a crapshoot.
I never used the CD that came with the camera. I heard it was crap so I never bothered with it. So quick and easy to use SADP.I just now downloaded and installed the SADP and it's the same as the initial setup for the iVMS-4200 software. I agree that after the initial setup the iVMS-4200 software is lousy. SADP is all you really need.
Which hiki has a mic?No mic. Your right. If it sways in the wind your cam would be a shaky stream.
I think some of the domes do. You want to hear the wind blow and the rain fall huh Chris.
I'd like to hear my dogs barking.
They dont get as much TV time now. The local station is too busy showing all the local traffic cams instead. #-o
I have one coming and it should be here Wednesday. Also ordered the TPLink POE injector and another pc for dedication to the cam. Its going to be at a remote location. Which software has everybody been using to connect to the camera? Sounds like the cd that comes with it is useless. Also, are any of you having issues with the camera locking up?

Use the SADP software from the link below. I personally never used the cd that came with the camera. You use the SADP software to get the IP and plug in your gateway and port. Then configure your router to mirror the port and the IP. Log into the cam with your external IP and port that you have chosen. Mine has been going strong since I had it with no issues.

Win 7 Home and Webcam 7.
The red and white box is what im looking for?
Can't wait to see it Chris. I hope you got some cat 5.

Yep. Where did you order from?
Should be in good shape. I think you will be shocked on how small and well built this cam is.

Cool! Is the connector to the cam weatherproof? Or does it need to be in a box?Mine came with a weatherproof connector for the Cat5e cable (which I use to power it through PoE). It's been operating flawlessly - other than the occasional icing/snowing up during freezing rain/snow events, which I can't blame the camera for (though I do find that the heat generated by the camera tends to melt the ice/snow off the lens fairly soon after any events) - through the fall and winter.
I just put some 3m tape on mine.

Same here I can connect with webcam7 on my old computer Windows 7 but not new computer windows 7. So have webcam7 running on 2 computers for now. I might give up, I sent them an email and did a firmware update today but no luck. The firmware is hard to find so I'll link it here. http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/portal/index.php?dir=Product%20Firmware/Cameras/DS-2CD2xx2/
The test comes back as ok in the wizard in wcxp and 7.. Have reinstalled wcxp and wc7 several times. Netcam studio and blueiris are the only ones able to connect to the cam. Strange. Do my settings appear ok? These are the ports in the camera.
http port: 80
rtsp port: 554
https port: 443
server port: 8095
I have all the ports forwarded to the camera ip which is 192.168.1.150
The pc ip is 192.168.1.15.
Very strange. Might have something to do with Friday the 13th? LOL. But on a serious note I'm glad you figured it out. Send a link.
Ryan..were you able to get it to connect webcamxp? If not, could you try installing netcam studio and retry wcxp? I would like to know if this is just a fluke or if .net framework is required.
Will send link later. cam is pointed at nothing at the moment and not at home.Very strange. Might have something to do with Friday the 13th? LOL. But on a serious note I'm glad you figured it out. Send a link.
Exactly what i did earlier today. It may be that the .net framework 4.0 needs to be installed from Netcam Studio. I just kept Netcam Studio installed and loaded up webcamxp and webcam 7.....both worked fine. Just leave the Netcam Studio 32 installed but not active and the Hiki should connect. It took a little time to figure it out but its the easiest solution for those wanting to use wcxp or wc7.
Some USB and MPEG4 / RTSP cameras are only supported in the 32-bit version so it is suggested to install this version if you have troubles connecting such video sources!

Both software programs are not required. I had my Hikvision working with WC7 and WCXP the first day I got it without netcam studio installed.
Off topic. The latest version of webcamxp private does not seem to allow you to display viewers that are currently connected in the overlay editor. I dont even think there is an editor. Am i missing something? I always like to see how many viewers are viewing the image. The older versions allow you to do this and place it anywhere. (Scratching my head)

Great Chris but your still scratching your head.
I call BS. Mine connected with XP and 7 without netcam installed.
I could never get the 64 to connect. The 32 on the other hand fired right up.
Looks good Chris. =D> What software are you using?
I was watching someone on the pier. Is that you?
Nice even looks good at night. Can't beat the camera for price.
Thanks Ryan. No, that wasnt me, lol. I may be out there this weekend though. Im running Win7 with Webcam 7. Seems to be pretty solid. The only problem I had was whenever I rebooted the PC the gateway would vanish. In other words, it needed to fixed. I found this little command that resets your tcpip settings back to default and it worked like a charm. Gateway is holding now. Here it is if anyone needs it.
From command prompt enter this:

I changed the resolution on mine to 2048 x 1536. Got to see what it looks like in the daytime but at night it looks great.

Thanks Chris. I think I got it.
I see it! Nice! You can also do time, date and can even overlay your logo using the insert image feature. Thanks Chris. I think I got it.
The fog is causing a lot of distortion on the image. Looks like bugs, lol.
Day view doesn't look bad at all. Will keep that for setting now.
Yes, I like it. I changed the exposure time to 1/6 from 1/12 and it really brightened it up.

Hmm.. I put my exposure on 1/6 and it darkened it. I currently have the exposure on 1/12 and the gain on 66. Have you messed with the White Balance?
Looks good during the day and I'm jealous of the people wearing shorts going for a ride in the boat. :-) You should raise the frame rate up on WC7 so the stream is smoother. ;)
These large images we are streaming I'm only seeing others connecting between 1-4 fps a best on my site. Doesn't matter what the frame rate is set at on camera. I can connect at 17-20 fps but visitors are always much lower. If you have webcam7 you can actually see the FPS on web/broadcast.
Maybe I'll try that. I wish we could just adjust image to 800x600 for streaming. Daylight the 1280x720 image is 2 megs at medium. 1920x1080 was around 5 megs. Ryan will the sub level adjust down to 640x480? Webcam7 keeps diverting the primary stream to the actual image size. I only see the large image options in the camera settings, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

No its jerky. I would say I'm getting 1-2 fps. Not sure what you mean about webcomponents.
Yes, I actually never used live view I just went to configuration. I have a live view running on Blue Iris. What I meant by jerky are the car head lights aren't smooth.
You can see everyone's connection speed web/broadcast server. When I connect look at my fps

GoDaddy is having one of their monthly hiccups too. My site and Eric from Niagara Weather are not updating once again. That could be part of the issues also.
My GoDaddy work email wont connect now either which is also on GoDaddy.
Well, I finally have all three HikVisions streaming on my pathetic (compared to most of yours) website and would like some opinions. I have two looking across the valley in a panoramic view, but to get them to display side by side I had to reduce the size to about 425 in width. The other thing is that I can not view them on my site over my network, all I see is white squares. When I view on my Verizon notebook with the Wi-Fi off, they show up, but one above the other. My question is, are the streams too small in the side by side format, or should I just have each stream on its own page in the larger size? I really don't care that they are "jerky", as there is normally not much motion anyway.
Thanks for any comments.
Yeah they look good Mark. I agree it really doesn't need to be a smooth stream for weather cams. Security cams would be another issue. Marks cams: http://mbobier.com/

thanks for the input, guys. I have made changes, including deleting the driveway cam. Randy, thanks for the code. I don't know if it will work, but I tried putting it in. I am with HostGator and used Weebly Basic to build the site. Help from HostGator was non-existant and could not find a way to contact Weebly without setting up a site through them. I found a box under each page that said header and I copied your code in there. Don't know if it will work, but we will see.
This afternoon I shut down Netcam Studio Server because I had two connected users that had been on for upwards of three hours.
Again, thanks everyone for your suggestions and help.
Mark
Thanks Randy, I saw you were on. Only problem, Netcam Studio says you are still on????
Mark
@Dale.... I get around 60mbps download and around 11-12 upload. I have no idea how much the cam uses. I've never had any issues with it slowing my internet what so ever.

@PSJohn .. The time lapse is excellent. The contrast of the very green grass, blue sky and clouds is absolutely outstanding. Welcome to the Hik club!
John your night image looks great. =D>
Since there are about 100 different settings on this camera, how about we share configuration parameters. I havent really made many adjustments so i dont have much to offer at the moment.@PSJohn .. The time lapse is excellent. The contrast of the very green grass, blue sky and clouds is absolutely outstanding. Welcome to the Hik club!
...I removed the driveway cam from website and have been trying to set it up for motion detection to no avail. My question, has anyone set up motion detection and gotten it to work on Webcam 7?I have the motion detection activated on both my HikVision cameras. The recording is done on my Synology NAS Surveillance Station app using the substream. I initially had problems with wind-blown trees and birds triggering the recordings, but using the HikVision sector assignments I was able to reduce the extraneous triggers.
Mark
This was a good test today, looking directly into setting sun. Camera still held its own, removed most of the glare and showed just how small the sun ball is behind the tree.
Yes, great little cameras.
Ryan,
I changed my settings based on yours a minute ago and what a difference! Awesome!! =D> Thanks....
Now I'll see what it looks like tonight.... not a lot of light around.

My question, has anyone set up motion detection and gotten it to work on Webcam 7?
I was thinking it possible was a planet. I see it every night lately sometimes next to the moon.
If it flashes once per second and moves across the sky, it is a plane.
Hiki Numero Dos. Really satisfied with these cameras so far.

Seems a wee bit overexposed, but if the camera isn't doing dynamic adjustment (I don't have one. Yet.) then you have to balance.
Has anyone stuck a cheap circular polarizer over the front of one of these to see if the clouds are even more well defined? The problem is that it does cut down a couple stops on the light coming in. Not a problem during the day, especially with what the wx looks like in Colorado Springs, but without something to drop the filter out of the light path at the end of the day, a real noticable loss would occur.
Nonetheless, I'd like to see a side by side image with polarizer on vs. off.
This camera is the first one I've seen where it looks like the resolution is good enough to make it worth while. The old low rez stuff wouldn't be worth it for the color accentuation and the cloud definition.

Me too and double thread web.. :-)
I wondering now do these IR lights attract insects?
WOW its really something looking at Venus and Mars. This is with no blow up just the 4mm lens. Its the moon and Venus...LOL
Sure looks like sky glow lighting up a contrail from below.
I've seen them clearly on moon lit nights, but that's illuminated from above. The clouds here show the sky glow so I don't see why your cameras couldn't pick up the same up-light.
Keep the pictures coming.
I like when a high contrail is lit by the sun, casting a long shadow down onto lower clouds or if the angle is just right, showing up as a streak in humid air.
Order from Netview on Amazon and you should be fine. I posted a link on page 3 of this thread. You can get it for $111. Don't forget the POE injector. The link is on the same page.

It will be out back in place of my bird cam so more of the creatures of the night can be seen.
Yeah, just wait till you view "Stanley" from the parking lot in the sunset, with storm clouds.... and lightning... you'll not want a room. Been up Trail Ridge yet? And.. next time you're down at Canyon City, take CO 67 (? I think it is) up north through Victor, on to Cripple Creek... You'll soon realize that Stephen King missed the best horror story... . Well its not over Mike. Chance of snow Thursday and Friday. Took the future inlaws to Estes Park yesterday. Had a great time. Just for giggles I asked about the wait to sleep in room 217 at the Stanley Hotel. There is a 3 year wait.
Been up Trail Ridge road over the Continental Divide in RMNP. Been to the casinos in Cripple Creek. :-)Yeah, but did you do '67'? You'd have had enough 'luck' you'd have none to 'spend' at Cripple Creek!
Get them Hikes mounted.

Well, technically correct... you could call it a 'road'... but... see attached... 67 /86/67 . As I said, they may have improved it to 'one-lane', and laid down new gravel, replaced a doubtful 1000' high bridge or two, added one or two 10' wide "pullover to let pass" areas, etc., since I last experienced it... had to throw those pants away... .Yes I took CO 67 out of Woodland Park to Cripple Creek. I don't know if this will work but I run my WC7 in Administrator mode.
Look in task manager processes and look for FFMPEG running. If its running end process and try again.
I've had issues with FFMPEG before but it was stopping Sebectec from running. Only thing I can think of right now.
Have you completely closed webcam 7 no longer in task box. Right click and exit. Exit out then restart as administrator? I have to do that every time at least once before it will finally work. Make sure nothing else is running that could interfere also.
What is the Berts Bar and Pineland Marina cams connected to?
They have their own pc. As do the rest. What is the Berts Bar and Pineland Marina cams connected to?
Could be. But I run another PC with WinXP used strictly for all my lightning and tide generations where the camera connects fine. Only problem with that machine is its a bit under powered and the resources were maxed during the connection.
You are connecting to the RTSP main stream? Other options are available like H264 but the only one that works for me is RTSP.
OK, guys, I'll apologize right away for being a worry wart.Heh ... I had the same panic for a few moments, Dale. ](*,) It'll supply the proper voltage...
I got my camera today, along with the tp-link POE injector.
Excitement as I read through things, and screech, the injector voltage is 48 v. DC!
The camera documentation of course says that it needs like 5 volts.
Does the camera hardware step down to the needed voltage, or did I get the wrong POE injector?
I'm anxious to try this but after waiting to buy the thing don't need a smoke test as it's last hurrah here on earth.
So I'm asking just to get reassurance to plug it in or don't and I'm glad you asked for a response.
Dale

Chris,
If you are getting the error with Netcam, try emailing them, Steve has helped me with similar issues. Are you using the same network connection for all of the PC's? That maybe the issue. Like I said, Steve at Netcam should be able to help you. Normally he responds pretty quick.
I hope this helps.

Excellent job Chris. Mine is mounted on the back of the house about 17 ft up.
And just to be sure, is this what others are using for waterproofing? If I want to use a premade cable, it looks like it is back to a few layers of self annealing waterproof tape and some CoaxSeal or ElephantSnot to make it impervious to the weather, correct?
Lens:
Mine has a 4 mm lens.
I see there are 6 mm (non wide angle?) lensed units but the same seller on amazon has the price almost $30 higher. Must be a rare unit to stock, or the 6 mm is way more costly to pour plastic into than the 4 mm. Just being sarcastic.
Is anyone here running the 6 mm lens? Is it a good one, too.
Just thinking about adding number 2 already.
Dale
You don't need to upgrade if it's working fine. The early version of firmware will work with the http snapshot command and I'm guessing that's what you are using? But the newer HIKvision firmware doesn't support http snapshots so need to use rtsp in that case.
-Mike
Any luck Chris?

Ryan moved my west view to east view. Pitch black at night, IR doesn't reach anything, but looked great during the day. That setting sun on west side was brutal. Going to try and set up west view a little different soon.
Have u set up one of those LED lights?
I do have this IR but not setup on east side. I might do it tomorrow.

All 3 cameras are now Hiki's. It'll be interesting how the south 2232 does at night with the built-in IR illuminator, no outside help here and that driveway is dark. I'm all onboard with picture quality, the stardots are suffering from age like me. Primarily why I did it, plus the night vision is much better on the 2232. All for the price of 1/2 stardot camera.
The Stardot's I turned into strictly security cams strategically located.
Testing motion sensor at night works great. What a wonderful image with the 2232 in darkness. I can make my profile out, hard to miss 260 lbs even from a distance.

Did you use "advanced mode"? That allows for different settings of day vs night motion settings.

Ah! I prefer to set the camera up to do as much processing as possible so as to minimize the load on the system doing any remaining processing/storage.

With Blue Iris software I don't think there is a way to have it utilize the motion capture built into the camera to trigger Blue Iris to record. At least not anyway that I could find. If I'm wrong, please explain how you are doing it.
Agreed Randy. Hard to beat the price and clarity of the Hikies. This has turned out to be one hell of a thread.

I don't know what Stardot you are using, but the modern ones blow the doors off the cheap Chinese stuff, image-wise at least. I won't argue that they are crazy pricey, even on Black Friday sale. My 5MP produces images that are far superior to any of the other so-called HD cams I have. For the price the Hikvision cams seem to be far better than my Foscam 8910 which is crap. WOM that one was!

This is the 5 meg Stardot SC day/night and 3 meg Hikvision.
I like the Hikvision not only for image crispness but night vision and frame speed. Both cameras are set at 1280x720. The FPS on the Stardot is really low vs the Hikvision at the same 1280x720.
The Stardot is grainy at night and the already slow FPS make moving objects blur. The Stardot CMOS imaging sensor is inferior also, not just my opinion but others much more knowledgeable than me on camera forums have phrased the Hikvision CMOS quality.
The one beef I have with the Hikvision is poor image handling of lighting. Stardot cameras handle lighting contrast much better. This is a software issue.
I should add this stardot is around 7 years old so what has changed I'm not sure of if anything.
Something is not right with your Stardot. I get 30 fps with mine.
Well evidently I've been good lately. To my surprise I had a Hikvision Camera from Netview and a TP Link POE from Amazon show up. God Bless my wife. Now to find a place for it, then figure out how to hook it up to the network. May have to dig out my old Linksys WRT54G router, but before I do that, I've got to see if my Motorola NVG510 router from AT&T can be put into bridge mode.

Something I've noticed with the newest chrome update, I can no longer view cameras or make any adjustments in Live view. Still works with IE and Firefox.Seems to also come and go for me in Chrome. Currently gone...(wants to install the component again)...
I'm unable to find any combination of 'Enable'd chrome://flags/ that overcomes Chrome's HikVision recalcitrance. I give up.
Hi Randy,
Starting with the latest version of Chrome, version 42, Google has disabled the NPAPI plugin by default. This may be the issue. We have software here at work that rely on this plugin and we have a found a temporary workaround.
Type chrome://flags/#enable-npapi in the address bar. You will see a list show up with the NPAPI plugin at the top of the list. Click on enable, close Chrome and open it again. Hopefully that will resolve the issue.
The kicker on this is this plugin will be removed from Chrome on September 1, 2015.
Hope this helps,
John

FYI everyone this showed up on Amazon today. Can't vouch for these sellers but its a good price for the 50 meter IR. This camera usually requires a long wait from China or $165 price tag and up. Its the 4mm lens which is best in most cases for a good wide angle. In stock delivery tomorrow $3.98 with prime.

Well Randy, I just ordered the cam and for some reason I got a $2 credit and no shipping so it was $119. We shall see how his vendor works out.
Someone can correct me, if I am wrong, but the only difference I see is the IR range is greater on the one I just ordered and the base appears to be different.
Mark
Congrats Mark hope it works out and you get the EXIR version listed on the spec sheet.
Check out the 2 ladies and dog walking some distance away. This is the same camera with the 6mm lens.

I'm not so sure the image you posted is a good indicator of the IR distance of the camera as the street light is very bright and most likely what is lighting up the 2 people. You can also see long shadows being cast from the tree and building from the street light. The IR may in fact be much better on that IPCam but the image may not be a good indicator of that because of the street light.
Mark not sure of the setup on your other Hikvision but just a reminder the PoE Injector adapter is needed for Ethernet, they don't ship with supply power.
injector I ordered for mine.

I'm learning about the Hikvision, I have been using 4 Pelco Domes PTZ with a AXIS video server - Please tell me what model Hikvision your using at Pineland Marina.
I also know some good things about a battery backup, because your on Pine Island the power will go up and down, and the rainy season is near rebooting is now a thing of the past for me.
Wow, it's not ever their top model, I'm very impressed. Thank You

Netview and Xinray are good.
Try downloading set-up software and tell us if you can configure the camera with this English version

So Randy, you don't think the SADP that I used for the 2032s will work? I just haven't tried it yet, since I am pretty sure the cam is going back. I have been dealing with other issues, Netcam Studio quit working. Something about the beta version had expired, which I did not realize I had a beta version. Now it says the free version only supports two webcams and I will have four. Since I could never get motion detection nor time lapse to work, I decided to go with Webcam 7. Been trying to find a manual for Webcam 7, but I guess the manual for webcam XP is the same. Still trying to get my streams back on the web.The original SADP should work. Try it first.

Everyone here looks like their having some sort of little problem, with IP cameras you need to massage them into place .
What I have been reading there is the correction tool and it's all in English. I don't think there is any USA tech support for the HIKVISION camera. Please tell me if I'm wrong. The correction tool being in English is the key to buying direct from China in many cases cameras are 50% lower in price. Download the correction tool and have a look, it looks straight forward to me, but that's me.
Just make sure you have the latest firmware version, see example I attached below, newest version. If you don't your in trouble, you will then need to find someone who can read Chinese. If the camera doesn't work right the first thing (TECH SUPPORT) will ask you is do you have the latest firmware update. g
I'm thinking about getting a variable HIKvision 2.8 - 12 mm this way I should be seeing what I need with my future cameras and there won't be needing to return any cameras
Man look what I started.

I just watched what I believe was a hail storm on your cam today about 3pm MDT. Pretty cool it covered the ground and looked like snow. Was I right? hail? Was a little too warm for snow.
Pretty cool!
Have any of you attempted the remote firmware upgrade?
I don't think I can, the account is built into their stuff.
Are you able to connect to the camera via pc? If so, you may want to consider enabling DMZ to the ip address of the pc and disable any firewall in the router then test again.
Ever heard back from support Chris?
Thats a negative. :-(Ever heard back from support Chris?
... I've discovered something else that puts a damper to everything, the external ip address has changed already. It may have something to do with the dual bonded lines, not sure. It would be a real hassle generating new scripts daily. What's your current setup, Randy? I'm using a Motorola SB6141 with a dual bonded Linksys WRT 1900AC and Time Warner as my ISP. The key for me was opening up the proper ports on the router and using No-IP (http://www.noip.com/) to eliminate worries about my ISP assigning me another IP address. They offer free services, but you must manually renew them every 30 days, so I opted for the cheap no-worry paid alternative. At that, since Time Warner figured out how to bond both lines (which assigns me an IP address that Who's Online sees as a Beaumont or Bridge City, Tx. location, but which WHOIS sees correctly as located in Lincoln, NE) my IP address has remained the same.
FYI I did try DMZ without disabling firewall, I never found that option other than disable NAT. I did turn NAT off without trying DMZ at same time. I may give it a try.

Its a Technicolor C2000T modem and router combo made for Centurylink. Dual ADSL lines bonded they call it ADSL+2. for theoretical 24 meg download speed depending how far from fiber terminal. I'm getting 17.6. IP address puts me in Omaha. For what ever reason it won't work with the generated webcam 7 scripts. Server port is open everything on webcam side worked fine with Netgear router when it served as my primary with WAN port connected to cable modem. I've checked the server port by probing at the public IP address and it was open also.Try using your own modem and router. There appears to be no restriction regarding personally owned modems on Centurylink (http://internethelp.centurylink.com/internethelp/modems.html), so separating the functions of modem and router might go a long ways towards sorting out the problems.
Ryan, great shot.
Is this part of a time lapse loop or don't you have it feeding one?
I have dreams of such a view, but my camera sees a lot of trees, beyond which there are more trees. Unless the clouds are above 60 degrees, I can't see them.
Sigh. So I live vicariously.

Replaced the pier cam with a Hik. Impressed so far.

Chris,
That's a gorgeous picture of the pier with the new camera.
Nice leveling to make the water line on the horizon level.
Do you have a polarizing filter on it?

Finally got the Hik working at the station. I gave up on tech support, ordered a new box with win7, and have it online now.

Oh, and if anybody is looking at the cam now a spider that i knocked down earlier is spinning his web again. SOB! lol

Web looks good! I hate them on there. Had one the other night and a storm came through and knocked it off.
I just watched it put the web across the whole camera then it fell off.
Lol! I saw that. Eh, i will get him tomorrow. Hik needs to develop a spider wiper!I just watched it put the web across the whole camera then it fell off.

First time mine showed up I thought something was wrong with the camera. Then I realized it was a web. Is this cam at your house?
Yes.Must be a house spider :-)Lol! I saw that. Eh, i will get him tomorrow. Hik needs to develop a spider wiper!I just watched it put the web across the whole camera then it fell off.

No, and haven't tried lately.
Dealing with Centurylink is almost impossible so far. I still can't log into my account because it doesn't exist online, haven't received a bill and absolutely get no where when I try to communicate my concerns even after being on the phone for 2 hours over several days.
I just can't stomach the idea of actually asking for technical support when this is just billing and new customer service.
Thanks for the update Randy. I just updated 2 more cams to Hikis overlooking charlotte harbor and the marina.
http://www.capeweather.com/charlotte-harbor-webcam-punta-gorda.html

The fisheye effect is barely noticable on the marina cam in the upper right corner.
For anyone interested they now have 4 megapixel out in the bullet camera with better lux rating .07 and true WDR, instead of simulated. Have to purchase from overseas distributors however and never do a firmware update on those cameras.I asked for a price from one of the Alibaba sellers, and they said it is too new to price yet. I figure that means they still don't have any in stock

Looks good, and its a beautiful day. How many Hiks now do you have? I'm at 6 but only have 4 online. I have a 12mm lens I'll use for snow cam this winter. Right now its focused in on my clear vue Cocorahs gauge.
I think it would depend on the view, being you are near the edge sky in that image is good but cameras going down the drive you want to capture more ground less sky. Just like you have them now looks good.
Agree. Dont touch them. Already perfect.

Thanks guys. Got third cam mounted outside today. Mounting it under the eaves cost me a little bit of sky, but I'll live with it.

Has anyone else noticed funky color shifts early in morning and late in the evening?

Is this happening when it switches between day and night mode? If so that can be turned off.

Chris are you still ordering from Netview or did u switch?
What else will I need besides Ethernet wire?

- TP-LINK TL-PoE150S Gigabit PoE Injector Adapter, IEEE 802.3af compliant
- TP-LINK TL-SF1008P 10/100Mbps 8-Port PoE Switch, 4 POE ports,

For a connection exposed to the elements, first squirt some dielectric grease into the female half of the connector. Black electrical tape can be used to wrap the connection, but I could only suggest Scotch 33+ be used for this. Better would be a self-vulcanizing/self-amalgamating tape such as Scotch 70.
I'm going to order this week. I'm taking a LONG Labor day weekend so I'll do it then.
Am wondering will this work for my dlink router ? Ordered the cat5 and injector today
Thanks Ryan for your patience and help. Got it figured out and the camera is working. Now the fun, or is the headaches, really starts.
I am sure many more questions later.

Paul
Ive got 1 hik on a 175' run. No issues.
A couple of things:
I plan to install the camera to my mast on an unused chimney (where my sunrecorder is mounted) and run the Cat5 inside a conduit through the chimney. Maybe 50 feet overall from PoE by router/computer to the final mounting. Would that length be ok?
I now have my Logitech 9000 live stream and image through Yawcam using http://99.249.226.93:8888/update.html (http://99.249.226.93:8888/update.html). I presume with this new IP camera all I would need is to set a forwarding port range and then with the appropriate public IP:port it can be seen, is that correct?
Paul
Gateway in SADP hasn't changed. The only thing I've changed in SADP is the IP Address and HTTP port and then updated my router settings accordingly. I must be missing something and will keep at it after a bit of a break :x
Paul
Never had a reason to upgrade mine. Chris what about you?
No, i dont upgrade any of them. If it aint broke.......Never had a reason to upgrade mine. Chris what about you?
From there it brings you to the log in page for the cam and you mess with settings and port forwarding.I have been doing the port forwarding from my router. Should I wait for port forwarding until I can login to the camera interface again? I don't recall but wasn't looking for that when I was able to login last night
If you cant see it on SADP, I would start over by doing a reset on the camera.
Disconnect the cat5 plug on camera end. Plug the camera back in and then hold the reset button on the camera down for approximately 10 seconds. It will reboot the camera to factory settings. All your settings will be lost in the camera but atleast you will be working from a default baseline.
Before u do the reset just unplug cat 5 from cam. Close out of SADP then reopen.
Thanks everyone for your help. My login issue resolved RESOLVED.

Hi Ryan,
I do have the PC IP address and have put it in place of 127.0.0.1 but so far not yet connected. Something I am still doing wrong and it will need to wait until tomorrow evening now. Is the details what is to be put in the various fields documented anywhere. I didn't see anything in the webcamXP download.

Paul
Found the webcamXP users manual and making progress. Have made connection

A good way to check to see if the outside world can see is to turn off the wifi on your phone, open a browser, and then type in the ip and port displayed in broadcast. Quick and easy test.
This also helps when mounting the camera. You wont need to run back and forth 50 times to check for leveling.A good way to check to see if the outside world can see is to turn off the wifi on your phone, open a browser, and then type in the ip and port displayed in broadcast. Quick and easy test.
I just got off of the roof and getting dark so can't see much. Will adjust and do final install tomorrow

This PoE is awesome too.
Still ironing out the stream details on Webcam 7 & IP Timelapse
and how to fit it onto the page better
www.cnyweather.com/livecam.php
Anyone care to let me know how to input the correct image link on IP Timelapse?
Got IP Timelapse working Ryan. THANK YOU!!
THESE CAMERAS ARE GREAT.
You guys turning the IR off at night? Seem to be getting a lot of bugs.
If you have other light, yes you can turn off IR at night. If not it needs to be on if it's a weather cam, and yes it attracts bugs....I have a contract with an Itsy Bitsy Spider to keep bugs off the SW cam at night....
I went this route because I had a small 4 port switch already and figured it would be easier for me to have everything running into just 1 switch. The new switch was only $72 on amazon which I thought wasnt too bad.Regarding the smoothness, yours is the only web cam I ever used that wasn't jerky at all. It was like just watching it through a movies camera. I hope it gets back to that when you upgrade.
Now to just upgrade my internet next when I cut the cord in November (after NASCAR Season is over)
So the stream is a little smoother.
Yours looks good Ryan. A jump every once in a while, but that can be expected.
Is mine smooth on the other end? It's smooth on this end. My speed is 125 down and 25 up.Not really on my end. By smooth I mean on Tony's cam when a car goes by there is no stop and go motion. The car continually moves without any hitches. On yours the do stop and go.
Question about browser settings.
When viewing everyone's cams in FF the images flickers. It flickers with different white shapes like pointed rectangles, squares, half the page white.
In Chrome there is no flickering. Any suggestions on what I could change in FF to fix this?
I know, just use Chrome but I been using FF too long.
Thanks all. Likely switching to day mode is the easiest as going up there to clean it each time is not the easiest and certainly not possible in the winter.I use a garden hose on thin stream when necessary ;)

I have the Hikvision image shown below the Logitech image on my home page www.komokaweather.com (http://www.komokaweather.com) and there is a big difference in the sky view. Granted the Logitech is inside of a window, and the Hikvision on top of the roof. For the Logitech, try 'The Hubble Fix" http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=19044.0
What settings for the Hikvision should I start with to make the forefront trees less dark? This is much more evident in the late afternoon/early evening when the direct sun starts to peak from behind that left tree. Everything is still at the default settings. Any other setting suggestions?
Enjoying,
Paul
Yeah, the tiny little orbie will build 'em about midnight local, then retract them an hour or two before sunrise...

Ryan,
Yes, I am able to use 192.168.1.137 and log into the cam. Is this where I change the HTTP port? I have been changing it in the SADP application, so that is probably my disconnect. At work now, will try it tonight. Thanks!
Nice! I had to move the matlacha cam to a different location. Updating another cam to hik soon. Will post when its done.

Ryan, looks like Netview is out of stock on the Hiks (Currently unavailable). Where has everyone been ordering them now and getting the English version on Amazon?
Has anyone ordered one of off NewEgg?
Does anyone have a solid inexpensive or DIY pole mount setup for these cameras they can recommend?(http://www.ourspecialnet.com/Weather/TwinHollies/i-VgHr5CM/0/L/HIK_Mounts%201200-L.jpg)
If you got a brown box, you're f'd
Glad your getting settled in Ryan.
Like the street view. Looks like a new neighborhood, it should give better idea of weather conditions plus serves as a security camera.
Netview is back in stock on Amazon for $103.
Has anyone had any luck using the server in this camera to upload via FTP directly to wunderground? I appear to have the FTP portion setup correctly and the "test" is successful, but wunderground doesn't appear to be getting anything or doing anything with it. It's been setup for a couple of weeks now.So I could have sworn someone replied to this and mentioned checking the file size, other stuff I forgot, etc.
Any advice that doesn't involve running a standalone computer?
Soooooo...
Some additional futzing around in the settings has allowed me to get the camera to feed a steady stream of snapshots to the FTP of my choosing (first my local FTP, but now WU's). And holy $hi+ I've gotten it working!
http://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMIEASTL10
The key was to give it a "schedule" of when to take the timing snapshots. Hik's default schedule appears to be never. So enabling the timing snapshots in and of itself does nothing. I had to give a daily schedule of 24/7 to get it to start spitting out pictures.
I also found that in order to keep the images under 150k per WU's requirement, I had to set the quality to medium (yields about 140kb/per).
So there you have it folks. The camera can FTP pictures without having to use a computer and software as an intermediary which is pretty cool! (and maybe everyone knew this but I'm tickled to have gotten it working as this was a pretty big goal.)
SpartanWX I got the Hikvision FTP server working also. I set my timer at 300,000 milliseconds 5 minutes. 10,000 is awful fast 10 seconds and going to use a lot of bandwidth.I have bandwidth in the spades... but I agree, no sense in wasting it. The 10 seconds was really just to see how quickly WU would update the picture. They state 5 minutes I believe. But there's no harm in dreaming =)
Paul I think the FTP already has a fixed name, I believe #-o it would overwrite itself if going to your server. Now WU does its own thing, renames to current and stores files for historic reference and video.Hik names the files 192.168.1.64_01_20151211233949662_TIMING.jpg with the string of numbers changing to reflect the date, time, sequence of the pictures.

I don't see any way to change that unfortunately.
My new Hikvision DS-2CD2042WD-I 4MP arrives today. I probably wont be able to do much with it today its supposed to rain all day and Ill be watching football. I am looking forward to a much higher resolution camera for my backyard replacing my Panasonic WV-SW175. Just saw CNYWeather walking his dogs past his camera as I typed this.
There is a new version out.
The new version: 2032-I is the older model. It is fully aluminum with a standard wire. The 2032F-I has a SD card slot, The front of the 2032F-I is made of plastic. The 2032F-I also has a larger box on the cable.
This sounds like the camera Capeweather may have received and sent back.
The 'F' comes with a SD card slot also. Here is the specs and pdf
http://www.switech-hk.net/u_file/file/15a451d215.pdf
The F has a big white cylindrical thing on the cable midway between the camera and the connectors. The I model does not have this.
New Hikvision owner. model DS-2CD2032F-I
I had difficult time with ftp and deferent names, so i solved the problem using ddns and a script in the server.
Now it gives me a fixed name.
Cameras address is http://kalamata.meteoclub.gr/webcam/kalathi.html
Image is million ways better than Logitech 905c that i had before.
I got a snapshot this morning. Caught my dog Max at the right time.
Other than doing the occassional browsing of messages and reading about others' fun, I've just been looking at my camera from computers on my local network. Not sure what is causing your password issue. But the iOS safari does not appear to support the webviewer plugin that the stream requires.
I just got a new large Apple ipad, one of the grand or huge ones.
I can see web pages generated by my RED Blitzortung controller, so embolden to see what the Hik looked like, typed in it's address, got the login screen and typed in the login and password, the very ones that work on every other browser looking at that address.
For some reason my webcam comes back with wrong password and user, in so many words.
I've typed in very carefully, tried using caps vs. all lower case, and so on, but there doesn't seem to be a way for my to glance a peak at my Hik with the ipad.
Anyone else try this? Is there a trick of some sorts?
Dale
Thanks, I appreciate it.Last tip for you as I worked through the web log in with no problem again.
I'd understand if I'd gotten by the log in screen and found the stalled program at that point, but I couldn't even log on.
I'm off to the app store. Thanks so much for this info.
Dale
Hi
I've a problem with my ds-2CD2032, since it doesn't do snapshot ftp upload to server with the same filename overwritten.
I guess I'm not so only one with a Hikvision that need a static filename to ftp, so I hope someone can help me with this.
Previously I used weather display to do the job, but I'm migrating to meteohub on raspberry pi, so I must find a new solution.
I don't have much programming skills, but what I know of, a script on the server might handle this. Also I have a spare raspberry pi, but I'm pretty much newbie with pi as well.
Ill be very happy for any help
You must create a php script that deletes old captures, takes the last, moves it to a specific folder and renames it to the ***.jpg you want. You must upload the script to your server. Then you have to create a cronjob that tells the script to run every ** seconds you want. If you can not create a cronjob or the server does not allow you to do that, you have to make php runs from a specific link (Say that php is in address www.mystation/webcam/file/file.php) Every time you click this address, script runs and do the job. All you have to do is find a program that hits this address every ** sec or put it in an autorefresh page that wiil do the job.

I use IPTimelapse from Sebectec, this grabs the image and saves it as a .jpg needs a PC to be on to run which is probably not what your after.

Hello Morfeas
I did solve my problem the way you said - I found a script that works great, and cronjob was very easy at my provider.
<?php
$fileList = glob('192.168.1.140*.jpg');
var_dump($fileList);

However more wants more, so now I want a raspberry pi to add weather info to the picture, and do time lapse as well. Is it possible with little programming skills?
I've found this code, for retrieving data?
curl http://yourmeteohubip/meteograph.cgi?text=actual_th0_temp_c (http://yourmeteohubip/meteograph.cgi?text=actual_th0_temp_c)
But what software do I need on my pi?

That is definitely "plugged".Well, after a day or so it was getting unplugged and signs of life.... and then some more snow again ](*,)
Randy,
Thanks for the info, also. Is it 'bad' to have the F version? I'm not seeing anything to help determine that, but there are three ending in F-I, one of which seems to just be a difference in the lens focal length.
But if the old stuff isn't available, then there is no fretting; especially if the new ones do all that the old ones did or more.
Gorgeous, Ryan!!!!
Awesome pic Ryan!!
Take a look at my sunset today.

Guys,
Just a heads up, Netview will be phasing out the 3MP 2032i and will be moving to the 4MP. This change over will start in early March. I consider this an upgrade for those who want to maximize on image quality. The F series will still be available.

I bet you are getting one huh Chris?
I probably will Ryan. The reason I know is one of my Hiks failed about a week ago and have been in contact with Ryan at Netview for a replacement. The only camera that they had was the F series, which is ok. I asked about the I series and his response was that they are phasing them out for the new 4MP line. By the way, for those concerned about warranty, Netview honors the 2 year warranty replacement. I bought the camera back in July/15 and Ryan had no problem replacing it. You need to supply your Amazon order, the serial number on the sticker, and provide a picture of the sticker before returning it. Very simple and painless process. Another reason to like Hikvision and Netview.Guys,

Thanks for the snapshots. I hope to get stuff some day like that.
You have either a very tall house or a tower with some sort of waterproof enclosure.
That's a great spot to see around.

I didn't take mine down, and this is just a knee jerk response so take it for that, but I think that it is under the little door held onto the bottom of the unit by the two screws. By the SD card slot, isn't it?
On the F version cameras, is there a reset button somewhere i'm not seeing?
I had network issues yesterday and the back one was fine. This mornings it crapped out
and I didnt want to take it down and bring it in to connect to the PoE to diagnose.
Ive had the 2 cams on 192.168.1.198 & 199 since I got them along with a forwarded port within Webcam7 for them.
It's weird that the weather computer would try and hog the 198 IP if it was already taken.
I'm set a static IP on the weather computer so the back cam works. We'll chalk this up to WHO KNOWS WHY IT HAPPENED.
The odd thing, during cases like this, Windows will report an IP conflict with another device. Surprised Windows didn't report the conflict on the taskbar.Ive had the 2 cams on 192.168.1.198 & 199 since I got them along with a forwarded port within Webcam7 for them.

I see the stream. Congrats! If you cant see it while on your own network using the external ip, you more than likely have a router that has NAT loopback disabled. We discussed this in another thread.

Randy I have the server running and the destination correct so not sure.
Chris, so you could see the stream with the IP address but not from the web page link?
What about this stream (http://192.168.1.110:8080/)?
So I have webcam set up with the external IP and the port assigned. Appears Chris you can see that with the actual IP address in a browser but not from within the web page with the code - right?
Yes it is running under web/broadcast.
I cant see either one at the moment. Something changed. It's doubtful, but you may want to check and see if your external IP changed. Check on whatismyip.com again. So I have webcam set up with the external IP and the port assigned. Ryan, yes the PC running webcam 7 is port forwarded.

Here is the router set up.
Chris - Yep it is.
Wondering if your ISP has port forwarding blocked?
Chris, the modem is a Motorola - supplied by cable company.
Chris he has Linksys E2500 router. I've looked it up already he just needs to make sure the computer running WC7 internal Ip is correct when forwarding.
Okay, I changed to a new port number
Stream Here (http://75.128.96.147:9000/)

Not working. Try installing the Open Port Check tool and run the test to verify if you are able to reach 9000. I provided a link.

I will try Chris - BTW - you just changed your avatar.
I made a small port change, can you check the feeds again please?
Randy, yes it is.
So, Firewall issue maybe? I run Zone Alarm security suite.
It is Off - can you test again?
I'm going to clean up unnecessary post. Good deal Paul.
Unsure if the no-name brands on this website are Hikvision, however they do mimic the model number pattern. Luckily for me this is a local shop/warehouse, so I may go down there on my lunch to check them out.

Yes they are Hiki cams. Just ordered 8 4mp cams from them a couple of weeks ago. As a bonus 3 year warranty.

I killed one of my 2 cams. Water got into the connection. I finally got it to power up but on my PoE switch, I only get 1 solid power light and the other just flashes intermittently. Tried cleaning the connections on the cam. 1 broke off & the others had corrosion. Cleaned them as best as I could and still a no go. :-(
Even if it was my screwup you think?
Had one of my Hiks go out. Think its a connection issue with plug and not the camera itself. I have a replacement for it but waiting for the wind to stop blowing so I can bring the telepole down.

Well apparently my Hikvision got wet and died last night. The Hikvision is a great camera but it's not built to be in the elements considering all of the sealing that needs to be done. I will leave my other Hikvision by my front door since it's under a roof. I replaced it with a Sharx IP Cam and it will be here Sunday.

My next camera I would like stream with sound. To me sound makes a world of difference in the experience.

Knock on wood (or my head).... I have not had any issues with my two hikies and they are fully exposed to the elements. I also have 2 Sharx that are fully exposed without any issues at all and they are rated as outdoor cameras.

I got the Sharx on Amazon at a good deal. I just hope the picture is as good as the Hikvision. The one I ordered is Full HD wide view.
Ryan, so what model of Sharx IP camera did you get?

The damn thing just came back on. Strange. You're welcome ;)

How is it that you attribute the failure to wetness?
I'd had mine mounted naked on a mast on the roof for the past 8 or so months and it's been rock solid.
It just dried out. I would seal the back very well where the cable goes in. I'm filling that area with dielectric grease now after killing 2 cameras.
The original Hikvision I bought over a year ago is still going strong. Its my south camera. I have others in service also close to the same time period. But also had a couple go bad. Total rain exposure has been 45".
I mentioned before water proof the connections with the rubber splicing tape and especially fill the area where cord goes into back of camera with dielectric grease. I think this is the area most likely allowing water into camera.

I sealed it.
Hello,
Does anyone in this forum have a Hikvision Dome PTZ camera? Does anyone know a US based Hikvision vendor that is customer friendly enough to answer pre-sale email questions and/or talk briefly on the telephone?
Thank you.
George
Supercell, you can upload up to three resized (thumbnail) images in IPTimelapse. Go to Setup->Exposure tab page. On the left are the thumbnail options. Check the box and enter the image width you need and enter a name. The image height is auto scaled. That's pretty much it. If you want only the thumbnail to upload then check that box on the FTP setting page. Also check for the latest updates at iptimelapse.com (http://iptimelapse.com)

Before you buy WC7 make sure you test it thoroughly. I could not keep it running for more than a few days at best. It is unfortunate because I really did like what I saw with WC7, just couldn't keep it running.
