Poll: Did you vote early or wait for election day?
« on: November 04, 2018, 10:48:36 PM »
I've always felt like voting on election day. I feel like there is more chance to decide on the issues. There is more time for last minute skeletons to come out of the closet on candidates. Things happen. If you vote early and some news bombshell occurs and you've already voted then what is done is done. On the other hand what if you get sick or there is a last minute business trip or you get stuck at work late or you get stuck in traffic or have an accident.

But the last two elections friends or family had dragged me to vote early with them. I guess people like to vote with other people.

What say you?

Here in the communist state of New Yorkistan, we can only vote on election day (or by requesting an absentee mail-in ballot with an approved justification months in advance).  Not like it matters, since our votes for national candidates here in the upstate have been mathematically proven to not count anyway.....

The old Chicago theme vote early and vote often is still on going so little chance of a fair election anyway. One of the major reasons electoral college can never be eliminated, at least voter fraud is somewhat lessened. Doesn't help for congressional races however.

For the first time in my life I voted early - except when I was living in MX and had to mail it in. I always liked to get up early and be there when the polls opened, but this time around this one is so important that I didn't want to take a chance on being sick or something else preventing me from voting, so I went early. Here in TX, we've had more people vote early than the total of all people who voted in the 2014 mid terms so it's a barn burner for sure.

My political career began and ended in 1972 when it didn't take me long to realize I wasn't nearly dishonest enough to be a successful politician - ha.

PS: It was also a lesson in the dishonest fake news press, I gave a nicely typed "resume" to the local paper and they wrote what they wanted and I had to demand a correction.

When we were living in Chihuahua, MX back in the 1990's, we voted at the US Consulate in Juarez for the '96 election. I guess that I didn't know about the mail in option back then. We went across the border into El Paso, TX afterwards so the trip was multi-purpose.

Everyone must vote. Even if you think it won't help in your area. The more people who vote, and make their voice heard, the more the liars and controlled media get exposed as frauds. I feel at some point, we will get a new media revolution. I don't know how far away that is, but right now, we have a TV media that cannot be taken seriously on anything. I do just the opposite of what they tell me.

Every home state seems to have different rules about absentee voting. Some allow mail ins, some require you to take it to a consulate and there it's officially blessed and sent on and some like TX allow it to be sent in normal mail, although I had a mail service that bundled outgoing and hauled it to the border and mailed it on this side. During one election I was coming up here for shopping so I just brought it along and mailed it from this side of the border.

Good of you to give it a try.

p.s. for the poll I selected I Do Not Vote so I could see the result but now can't remove it :(   However I am a 100% voter and an informed citizen where and when I CAN vote and have used the advance poll several timers.

Enjoy the freedom,
Paul

You had the option to view results before entering your choice into the poll. Some polls on this site allow you to change your answer and others do not. It is up to the person setting it up which options to enable. For this poll I selected to not allow people to change their answers. I've looked to see if I can edit the poll but that isn't available to enable now that the poll is up. Sorry.

Please explain "None of the above" as a valid option and I'll add it. I get your joke. I think it is important to vote even if you don't like any of the candidates. If you don't like any of the candidates then it is very important to participate in the primaries.

Ditto here. I don't feel any of the idiots on the ballot deserve my vote.

I would think twice living in Arizona about not voting unless you really like California regulations and taxes that much.  I've always voted my pocket book and being retired even more so now.

I guess I am not as cynical as some others. I see some very good candidates and a clear choice (for me) in most races. Like Galfert, I prefer voting at my voting place on election day rather than early voting. I will add one more reason for that ... if you vote early and accidentally spoil the ballot, your entire ballot is thrown out and you never know that your vote didn't count. If you spoil your ballot at the polling place, the machine rejects it (at least in my county) and they will issue another ballot to you on the spot. My voting place is only a block from my house, about a two minute walk, so I have no excuse to not vote. I vote in every election, including school board, city offices, bond issues and referendums, etc.

Did not say I wasn't voting, just that none deserve my vote. Actually voted weeks ago (~1.6M folks have voted early in AZ). Problem is with all the PACs ads - nothing but mud-slinging and lies. Makes figuring things out so much harder.

I removed the blue colour from the check-mark in the box so as to eliminate ALL possible political innuendo, intentional or otherwise.

I really think that they should pass a law that ANY political advertising should have to be reviewed by a bi-partisan panel that decides if the add is truthful.  The outright lies and half truths just make me want to puke.

I will vote tomorrow.

Watch Richard Pryor in Brewster's Millions. None of the above is a great slogan.

The MPLS Startrib REFUSED  to endorse anyone in the Attourney General race. Ellison/Wardlow
That is one I wish I could vote None of the above.
