GW1000 and WH2650 WiFi - two fraternal (and functional) twins - a comparison
cheeroip:
Thanks for the excellent post.
Do you know what's the difference between the GW1000 and the (newer?) GW1100?
They GW1100 seem to support HTTP/GET requests (that return a very friendly JSON) in addition to the TCP/IP binary protocol.
I don't think Ecowitt have any intention to explain what the difference between the 2 devices and seem to imply that the GW1000 will never be able to support the HTTP/GET protocol.
Gyvate:
the only functional difference between a GW1000/WH2650/Froggit DP1500 and the GW1100 is that the GW1000 doesn't have a WebUI as it has too little internal storage for that. Of course, consequently, related functions like the http/GET requests it cannot provide.
Otherwise, with the latest firmware, GW1000 1.7.4 and GW1100 2.1.5 have the same functionality.

Interesting. I assumed the WH2650 would support HTTP/GET.
I think they just discontinued the product and replace it with the GW2000.

the WH2650 doesn't have a WebUI either - hence no support for http/GET.
And so far, functionality-wise, the GW1100 and the GW2000 are identical.
The GW2000 has an additional LAN interface, a stronger processor and potentially more RAM and NVRAM (here I can only speculate, but Ecowitt hasn't published details yet - maybe someone with the proper knowledge could inspect the mainboard 8-)) - but I think the GW1100 and the GW2000 will run in parallel for at least some time - price-wise the GW2000 is almost double the price of the GW1100 (and size-wise, too ;)).

The FCC website is always a great resource even if companies always try to disclose as little as the possible.
Would you test my implementation of the TCP/IP protocol against all your devices/sensors?
