Title: YoWindow 2022
Post by: jmcmurry on January 09, 2022, 03:09:10 PM
It doesn't seem that long ago, but when the YoWindow weather forecast/conditions display program first came on the scene, several of us encouraged the developers to integrate our PWS data.  They enthusiastically worked with us and Brian Hamilton from Weather Display to make that possible.  I ran the program on my desktop for many years, but lost touch when its programming language Flash "died".

For several years now all development has been on the Android & Apple apps for smart phones. Being a phone Luddite, I missed out on the progress being made.  I recently installed the free Android version and was blown away by the current capabilities!

The app does a beautiful job of displaying the current and forecast weather just as the desktop version did.  But now there are 4 choices for forecast data source, and 5 for current weather plus local area PWS that report to CWOP, PWS Weather or Open Weather Map.  There my station was at the top of the list since I submit to CWOP!

The landscape collection is huge and I've only begun to investigate that.  I decided to purchase the app to get rid of the distracting ads and to add the Radar display option.  I'm also looking forward to the totally cross-platform version being developed and that will hopefully become available sometime this year.  I miss it on my laptop.

Thanks for posting. Always looking for a good weather app. But, after trying it out this one's not for me.

Ive used it from the start on my Galaxy Note series, i use it purely for the Airport landscape as my background and lockscreen with sound off. I do use various other weather apps but my main goto app for forecasts is WeatherPro paid for, 14 day and radar forecast. I also use RainAlarm Pro version (great rain alerting once set up right (and widget)) there's also a few apps (3) that have a widget that shows rain for the next hour, then there's the Android widget (live updates) that uses the clientraw or the XML from yowindow. Another is the UK MO app. I also use 1 widget for adding an updating image from the web that has my signature banner updates every minute, i also have an app called Weather radar, i use that for the widget that displays a radar with cloud on other pages on my homescreen i use another app that can show a webpage, for that i have the darksky map (till it dies). 20 wx apps in total and 11 as widgets. 3 of my home screens below #2 shown is is my mains screen :)
