Title: Different gain/threshold for the antenna channels
Post by: miraculon on August 06, 2013, 08:32:16 PM
I have been experimenting with lowering the gain on only the offending noisy channel. This seems to allow more strikes to get counted, although I am sure that my reception pattern will not be omnidirectional but somewhat oval.

On both the "green" system and the new "red", the noise source is not picked up equally by both antenna orientations.

When you adjust your gain, do you match them or only reduce the problem one? Or is your noise equal on both antennas?

A little of both as I feel my way around. At some point I'm gonna quit riding gain, and let 'er roll when we get more stations on... or I get tired of playing with it..,. whichever comes first. Right Now I've been trying to isolate a source of interference that may be a street light of the sodium or mercury family... I dunno where it's coming from... noticed it last night for some time.
