6313 Weatherlink console satisfaction/issues
« on: September 27, 2023, 05:39:34 PM »
Wondered if it might be useful to collect some poll data here on unresolved issues with the 6313 console. Notes from me:
  • Really looking for significant remaining issues. If your console is running generally to your satisfaction then please do say so.
  • I know that there are new features that we all would like to see added. We can do a separate poll for those if there is enough interest
  • Really looking for issues that can be fixed via firmware and that wouldn't involve a redesign of the console hardware. So slightly lower wireless sensitivity can't be fixed in firmware AFAIK, for example.
  • I've started the issue list with a couple of bugs that others have complained about. Happy to add further issues if you post the specifics
  • I guess this poll format only allows one option to be selected. So if you are unlucky enough to have multiple bugs then perhaps choose the most troublesome one. It would be good if there was a format that allowed voters to select multiple options but perhaps only at one visit per voter or only one vote per bug to avoid skewing the poll with multiple votes for the same bug, but I can't see how to do either of those things.

I'm probably the outlier here, but not having the altimeter setting is and always will be a dealbreaker for me. Not regressing there. Can't be that hard either, I would think, since they already have one that does.

Well i guess that would be something for a new features poll. Any interest in setting that up?

Not enough options for me to select.

I don't know how many updates have been done to my console since I got it, but 99% of the problems I had at the beginning, are still there.

The only thing I see that has been fixed, is the pressure trends when looking at stations on the map.

Well, just spell out what you want added. But like I say, the poll options currently available on this board don't allow a very flexible poll to be created. You are only allowed 1 vote. So which would be your most troublesome issue?

I wish that there was a "gust" option for the wind. The central circle wind speed updates frequently, so maybe Davis didn't think that there was a need.

I really like the 10-minute gust chart on the VUE console, but a "10 minute gust" option would be nice to have on the WL Console. I know that there are averaging options, but I am more interested in the peak gusts.

Good morning

I just sent Davis technical support yesterday a few points to improve in future updates with some photos

Quote
I want to share with you some issues to resolve in your future software updates for the Weatherlink 6313 console.

First of all :
The French translation of the cardinal points (see attached photos) is mainly "WEST" (W) by "OUEST" (O)

Second:
Sometimes the wind speed at the center of the compass rose loses a little of its value after the point (see attached photos)

Lately :
Would it be possible to add more custom display options, for example to make the compass rose in the center have the degree and cardinal point (see attached photo).
ALSO another option for winds:

“maximum burst of the day”

"gust"

I received the console yesterday.  The biggest issue is the 3 second delay for the screen to change after pushing anything on it.  Perhaps my unit has a flaw?  Everything works correctly, it's just unreasonably slow to respond to touch inputs.

The obvious question is whether you checked that your firmware is up-to-date at v1.2.27?

It updated to 1.2.27 when I first set it up.

3 seconds is a really long time for a screen change - are you sure that it is actually that long? I wouldn't say that the screen changes on my console are instant, but they are pretty quick - maybe 1/4 second if I had to guess.

I think it's very unlikely that your console hardware has any fault - the hardware is going to be identical within a batch, but if the slow screen change is still a problem then may be worth trying a click of the R pinhole at the back to cause a reboot.

Click of the R fixed it.  Thanks.
