WiFiLogger lost connection and can't reconnect
« on: June 08, 2025, 11:04:49 AM »
My Wifilogger https://wifilogger.net/wflsql/arch.php?wid=207660642244080][url]https://wifilogger.net/wflsql/arch.php?wid=207660642244080 [/url]

On June 6 I had to reboot my modem/router and after that I am unable to reconnect the WiFiLogger
The IP address 10.0.0.166 (reserved IP) is no longer loading.
Code: [Select]
10.0.0.166 took too long to respond
WiFiLogger is in a Vue console.  I have shut off power and removed batteries, and pulled the logger.  Then reinsert in the Vue, and there are 4 beeps, and then go through the various settings.  The Vue console is receiving ISS data and is current (I can compare it to an Envoy and WLL).

I have tried the http://192.168.4.1/wifi.html setup but that fails
Code: [Select]
can't reach this page
192.168.4.1 took too long to respond

I have tried to install the EspTouch SmartConfig app but that finds [EspTouch ??ckYeah] and similar and don't feel comfortable to install these.

Any suggestions?

Enjoy,
Paul

I've had similar problems following restarts of my wifi network, sometimes it reconnects ok, others not.  Its frustrating in its inconsistency.
Usually removing all power from the console then reapplying works but sometimes I have to go into the setup procedure by pressing the "setup" button for 10 secs then connecting to the WIFI Logger network, and re-associating it with my home network then disabling the inbuilt AP. (page 3&4 of the manual)

Paul,

I assume your logger is using the latest firmware, that is, 2.38 for WiFi Logger 1, and 2.42 for WiFi Logger 2? Pressing the red button  for 10 seconds should work.
Davis VP2 with SHT31 (3 complete VP2 systems—2 with a daytime fan and 1 that has a 24 hour fan); CWOP--CW5020, FW3075 and FW4350; WU--KILWHEAT17, KILWHEAT36 and KILWHEAT39; WeatherCloud.net; CoCoRaHS--IL-DP-132; and Weatherlink 2.0

Thanks,
@ Ron It is v.2.42 I think.

@Fifth Horseman I've had a few times in the past struggling to get it connected again, and eventually managed it, but most times it just works.

The logger shows on my modem/router
Code: [Select]
Offline Devices
Host Name:  Pauls_WiFiLogger
IPv4 Address:  DHCP/Reserved IP 10.0.0.166
MAC Address:  BC:DD:C2:D0:95:F0
Comments:  Reserved IP
Connection:  Unknown

With the current issue I have tried the 192.168.4.1 method but that is not working, and maybe that is because this is not the first time use/connection.
Code: [Select]
WiFi configuration
When WiFiLogger is power up for the first time, it starts in a configure mode. For all other
cases you have to switch WiFiLogger to setup mode. To do this you need to push setup
button „red” for about 10 seconds.
When you turn on config mode. WiFiLogger will start to act as an access point. You will be
able to search for „DataLoggerSetup” open Wi-Fi network.
 connect to „DataLoggerSetup” network with your smartphone, or laptop
 go to URL http://192.168.4.1/ and navigate Setup -> Wi-Fi Setup or  type direct address
http://192.168.4.1/wifi.html

I've also tried to follow the EspTools SmartConfig app method as shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTLfSWNApew but it doesn't get past the expanding green circles.

I'd hate to do a factory reset as I'd lose all the settings.

Enjoy,
Paul

Can you confirm which version of the logger you have.

Just for clarity, are you saying that you have:
1 - pressed the red setup button for 10 seconds
2 - connected to the WIFI Logger's own access point SSID ("WiFiLogger_AP" on s/w 2.43)
3 - tried to access the logger on 192.168.4.1

IIRC doing this and just re-entering your wifi details does not delete your other settings, also fairly sure a short press of the "RST" button just reboots the logger.

Yes, click white button is simply a reboot.

This video I did shows the full reset:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyWrdPouS0o

Release after first triple flash, will only reset WiFi.

Hi,

I can not check the version as can't access 10.0.0.166.  I do have firmware Wifilogger2-241 10/04/2022 and 2-242 05/07/2023 zips saved which I believe I updated to.

Just for clarity, are you saying that you have:
1 - yes
2 - Using Esp TouchSmartConfig app, this doesn't progress as the green circles just keep on expanding for hpours
3 - yes

I will tackle it again tomorrow.

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi David,
Code: [Select]
WiFiLogger 2: Restore factory settings  I am hesitant on restore factory settings -
Code: [Select]
Factory Reset has 2 steps.
1 step: Wifi credentials removing
2nd step: export credentials removing

Each step is indicating by double blink.

Enjoy,
Paul
