Oh dear that's a shame if the app has ended!
For me it was Android System Webview update that seemed to break it all.

I might try a removal and re-install but loathe to do that as I had it nicely setup how I like it. I see the export settings so at least I can save that part.
If I put a clock in content box 1 the grey box goes away, its only when I have a webpage (Windy showing radar) that it goes wrong.
Guess I can live without the Radar data for now!

Discovered that if i select both Clock and the webpage then you get the tab option on the web box. If you select clock tab the Grey artefact goes away and with Windy displaying it appears.
So I can live with that as I can pop between the two if I want to see the Radar data and leave it on Clock the rest of the time so the Grey box does not obscure my data

This is a shame as I was planning to use this when my station arrives. The author's website says he has closed it down around last October, so I think this is now dead! I will see if it works.

Hi!

The current version of the PWT works without any known problems. You can still buy PWT in the Playstore or - if already bought - install it on other devices.
Only new features such as support for the WH45 or the upcoming sensors WH/WN34 and WH/WN35 as well as the planned implementation of the GW1000 API are likely to be delayed indefinitely.
I really don't know what happened. But I assume that it will continue suddenly at some point. Not just because I hope so.

Regards, Oliver

I cannot see any indication that its dead dead!
Perhaps the author has gone to college/university and temporarily shelved the project.
The issues log still seems to be being added to
https://bitbucket.org/pingponglee/gw1000-station/issues?status=new&status=open

Well apart from my funny which I have now learned to live with by using the tab option I still think its an excellent app and will continue to use it.
I might even buy a new cheap Amazon tab at some point to replace my old tab.

Hi everyone!

First of all I'm extremely sorry that I have not returned any messages from you all. I've been sick since late September, and still not quite well, so I've simply not been able to work on the app at all really.

It is not forgotten and not abandoned! But there will be a while now where I won't be able to work on it. I'm just glad that it seems to be working okay as it is now.

There has been some issues with the Android WebView framework, which has been affecting not only PWT but also other apps. Not sure if its fixed from Google yet, but I believe it might be fixable by using APKMirror to find a working version. My own tablet which runs PWT 24/7 has no issues and is using Android WebView version 89.0.4389.105 just FYI.

I hope that froggit soon will get the new CO2 unit, so that I can get it my self and make the app compatible along with continuing on making the app use the GW1000 API instead of how it works now.

Again, I'm VERY sorry that I haven't returned any messages. I hope to get back on working on the app ASAP, but unfortunately as it is right now I cannot tell when that is going to be, but hope to return soon !

Glad to know you intend to keep improving it as I'm now using it for real with my GW1000. Hope you feel better soon.

BTW there was an update on webview etc some days ago which I had to install on all our Android devices here and it took ages because everyone was doing it, hopefully it fixed the issue. I certainly have not seen any issues with PWT.

Hi!

On March 19 the WH45 was already briefly listed as DP250 at Froggit. A short time later, however, the link disappeared again.
In this respect, Froggit will definitely add the device to its portfolio at some point. The only question is when. And experience with the WH57 shows that this can take a very long time.
By the way, my delivery of the WH45 by Ecowitt only took about 14 days. But that could also have been a stroke of luck, because I ordered very shortly after the product was released.

Daniel,
I can of course send you the stream of my station with the data of the WH45 via FOSHKplugin.
I only need an address and the port.
You would then have the data as coming from the original WH45. If necessary, I could also emulate WN34 and/or WN35 for you.

Greetings, Oliver

Sorry you've not been feeling well.

If I may add a request to your backlog...

I'd really like to be able to customize the temp display section.  In particular, I'd like some way to have the outside temp display much larger, so that I can see it without having to walk all the way to the display.  Indoor temp doesn't really matter to me much; I usually know what my Ecobee is set for.

The PM2.4 data also shown in that section is valuable though.

Thank you!

Hello

I am not able to receive data from my ecowitt system in PWT app.

This is my config in ecowitt app :

Customized
Enable
Server IP : (my tablet IP address like 192.168. 1.***)
Path : /
Port : 8072
Upload interval : 16

But in WPT app, nothing is coming, it is still saying "waiting for first update".

It is an old tablet running Android 5.

Can you help ?

Thanks !!

In case it isn't obvious, there is a two step process.
Start pwt, go to settings and note the ip address of pwt.
Open wsview, go to Live data, menu More / weather services / next x 4 and go to custom and make sure custom upload is enable ecowitt and hostname matches pwt address from.settings on SAME wifi network. My port.is 8572 and it works flawlessly when synch.

Note, when you network restarts or pwt restarts the node ID is likely to change. Some routers allow you to ip assign by Mac ID and that will make life easier. Set pwt device mac ID to unique ip address and it should all lock in from there.

My experience is picking an ip address on the upper side.of range devixe.coumt avoids conflicts.

If your ip range is x.y.z.100-200, use xyz180 and you will likely avoid ip device.conflicts ( unless you have 80 devices on network)

Hi everyone!

I've recently got my self enough mental reserve to get back to work a bit on PWT. Although not in the same amount as before I do hope to get some much needed updating of it with some new sensors - and to begin with I've been implementing the 5-in-1 sensor from ecowitt (WH45) in the same spot as the WH41/WH43 sensors. For now it will look like this

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

This is not released yet though. Still some work to be done, but I will keep you updated!

Version 1.4.0 has been released and should be available on Google Play already - Shoutout to Olicat for a huge help once again in testing this release!

The main goal of this version was to catch up on some compatability with new sensors. This includes WH45, WN34 and WN35.

  • New: Added compatability with WH45, WN34 and WN35 sensors
  • New: Ability to manually cycle through shown sensor sets by tapping on a sensor name in a sensor set
  • New: Function to include webtabs in sensor cycling
  • Added a loading screen when tapping on a sensor to see history for it
  • Fixed some bad translations

You can enable WH45 in the Sensors tab in settings. This sensor will show up along with your PM2.5 sensors if you have any. Just below the indoor/outdoor temp/humidity sensors in the top right corner

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

WN34 and WN35 are shown along with the WH31 and WH51 sensors in your sensor sets in either extra column 1 or 2.. You can add these through the Layout tab in Settings under Extra column 1 / Extra column 2. Remember that you can have as many sensor sets as you like! Names for the new sensors can be configured in the Sensors tab like always.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Tab on a sensors name in the dashboard to quickly cycle to the next sensor set.

You can also now select to have your selected webtabs cycle with your sensors automatically. This is enabled in the Layout tab under the given content box

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I think that was all for now. Enjoy !

EDIT: Got around to update the documentation too which had not been updated sicne version 1.2.0 (yikes). It can be found here: http://cba.today/personal-weather-tablet-documentation/

I decided to try using a web page for one of the content boxes but I had a problem in that once set up I could not get it back to showing the graph as I decided I did not want to use that facility. I had to start afresh to get my required content back again. I just tried to delete the URL but although that worked I could not get the content box back to a graph! What did I do wrong?

PS this was with the new 1.4 version.

Hi Stuart! When you write that you could not get it to show a graph again, do you mean that the settings in the Layout tab for said content box was grayed out ? If the content type for your content box is set to Website(s) / Other you won't be able to change any settings for Graphs. You have to change the content type back to Graph first, which is done under Row 2 Setup on the Layout tab in settings. Then the setting for graphs further down will be available and a graph should be shown again

Hi!

If you want to supply several devices with Personal Weather Tablet (PWT) from one station, you basically have the problem that there is only ONE destination for the custom server in the weather station - you can only configure one PWT instance as a destination.
One way out is the use of FOSHKplugin, with which many additional targets can be generated.

Previously, you had to generate a separate forward for each device on which PWT was to receive the data. I had described this in the recipe "Installation of FOSHKplugin generic version for several PWT instances" here.
However, this is quite time-consuming, especially with changing IP addresses (DHCP). And it generates useless traffic even if the corresponding target device is not switched on at all.

Therefore the new/current version v1.4.1 of PWT now offers a new connection type: the "UDP broadcast listener".
If PWT is operated in UDP broadcast listener mode, it listens to incoming data on a configurable UDP port.

FOSHKplugin can already forward incoming Ecowitt data via UDP. A forward like this is required for this:
Code: [Select]
[Forward-46]
FWD_TYPE = RAWUDP
FWD_URL = 192.168.15.255:12350      # use broadcast address:port and configure PWT to the same UDP port
FWD_CMT = send the Ecowitt stream via UDP broadcast to multiple PWT instances to broadcastaddress:port

This sends the data in Ecowitt format coming from the weather station via UDP to a broadcast address at which any number of clients can listen (not only PWT!) and process the incoming data.
I use it here to operate 7 or 8 devices in parallel and thus reduce the data transfer considerably.

With the next version v0.09 of FOSHKplugin there will be another forward type EWUDP, which receives incoming data in Ambient Weather, WU and Ecowitt format, if necessary, converts it to Ecowitt format and then sends this data via UDP.
PWT picks up the data and displays them accordingly - at the same time, on all devices listening on this port.
This means that Ambient Weather devices which transmits in AW format and stations that only can transmit data in WU format (e.g. WH600x) can then feed Personal Weather Tablet with data in this way.

I think this new feature of PWT can be very useful for some.
But of course the "old" way via dedicated forwards in FOSHKplugin and connection type "Custom Server" on PWT is still available.
