My new GW2000 is suddenly stopping after 30 minutes or so
I have 2 GW2000 because my old GW2000 was also having trouble to start up
Maybe it was a server problem of Ecowitt that was causing the trouble anyway that one works fine now
But I ordered a new one and it worked out of the box, no problem
I updated firmware to latest version and as with the old one, trouble began
But with some tinkering I got it working
This morning my new GW2000 was dead, reset button did not work no led nothing
Tried different power adapter with  2A 5v output, no difference
Now running cabled internet, but again after a while same thing occured, no way to revive it.
Only a power cycle will reboot the device.
My old GW2000 runs on wifi fine and does not quit randomly sofar

After trying different power adapters including the original one and going on cabled internet I'm out of ideas
Maybe it is the power cable, I haven't checked that

Only thing I do think is that the latest firmware of the GW2000 is not good
The previous firmware the GW2000 would connect to my internet in seconds, now it takes a lot longer
Seems unstable firmware to me

I had exactly the same issue with a GW2000. I sent it back to the shop, and they told me they had no issues when they tested it.

I aksed for my money back in the end, as it was 100% faulty for me.

I thought I had it fixed now
In the web UI I resetted the device to default
Set it up via the Web UI and it was working
I use it to upload to CumulusMX and as a second station on my meteobridge
For 3 hours it was ok but now dead again
I deleted the extra station on my meteobridge see if that is the cause, since I had meteobridge reading the GW 2000 through TCP/IP it only worked for a short time
I'm using cabled connection to my LAN
But that also needs some actions to be able to connect to my LAN
Power off, disconnect the LAN cable, power on, wait till the blue LED goes solid, then plug in the LAN cable, otherwise it will not connect to my LAN
My old GW2000 is running as it should on wifi

I'll keep updates going and if it is faulty indeed, I will contact Ecowitt, I have good experience with Ecowitt support

Perhaps configure the troublesome GW2000 the same way as the working one (including wifi) and see how that goes?

I have two active GW2000, both meanwhile on FW 2.2.3 and both connected via Ehternet/LAN. After some initial fuzzing with the renewal of the static IP address (after the reboot following the FW upgrade they forgot their originally set IP and got a new one via DHCP still marked static - to get the old IP back and set as static again needed some fiddling - see earlier post for the procedure) they are running flawless for about a week (&runtime).

I use my routers DHCP adress reservation to give my devices the desired IP adress
This is working fine for all devices, including my luftdaten sensor with a nodemcu which has a similar sort of wifi board as the GW2000
I now resetted the GW2000 to default again, only altered the Rain totals
See if it's behaviour is better
I did not change anything on the sensors id page, usually I disable the non existent sensors
Also the wifi settings are blank and I have not disabled wifi with the button
Wait and see....

EDIT:

I think the device is ok now it has been running for 10 hours now
I do have the GW2000 added to my meteobridge as a second station
The only thing I have changed is the recommended interval for upload to CumulusMX from 20 seconds to 60 seconds interval using the custom upload settings

All other settings mentioned earlier are unchanged, it's a cabled connection to my LAN

My guess is it cannot cope with a to fast upload interval to my Raspberry Pi running CumulusMX

How many servers are you uploading to directly from the GW2000 ? I mean directly not custom to server to somewhere else (but include the custom server) . Just for information.

Only to the Ecowitt.net site and to my Raspberry Pi
The meteobridge reads the API data through TCP/IP from the GW2000

So just two outgoing

I have a 2550 console also which uploads to WU, Ecowitt.net, my website through custom upload, weathercloud

So, 2 outbound , and the meteobridge queries it directly resulting in another outbound at a period/interval determined by the meteobridge?

Sorry if it seems like a stupid question, as I don't use a meteobridge.

@Rover1822
I read @wsNoordbergum's post that way:
- 2 GW2000 posting to ecowitt.net each, at least one of them (via custom server) to a RaspPi
- a HP2551 posting to WU, WC, ecowitt.net and his custom website (via custom server)

the Meteobridge is connected to one of the GW2000 - if the MB posts or not was not said
I think he has a Davis VP2 and a GW2000 connected to the MB (MB can take up to 5 stations)

In meteobridge you can add multiple stations up to 7 I believe, I have a meteobridge nano which is housed in the Davis console
Meteobridge is wireless connected to my LAN
My GW2000's are in the same LAN, only my newest GW2000 is cabled, the old one is on WiFi
In total I have 4 stations on my meteobridge configured
Station 0 is Davis, reads directly from console through the logger connection
Station 1 is my luftdaten air quality sensor (home built), wireless
Station 2 is my new GW2000 with all sensors that I have (wired to one of my TP link Deco)
Station 3 is my old GW2000 with only my old WS90 and the WH40 sensors, wireless (for evaluating rain spikes problem)
The interval of the data retrieval cannot be set, but I think it's around 15 seconds
Meteobridge uses the Ecowitt API, which is described on the Ecowitt website here

https://osswww.ecowitt.net/uploads/20220407/WN1900%20GW1000,1100%20WH2680,2650%20telenet%20v1.6.4.pdf

Although the GW2000 is defined as a GW1000 in meteobridge, it works fine, the protocol is the same

I have a console and one GW2000 uploading to Ecowitt.net that is correct

The GW2000 sends data to my Raspberry Pi as I use the data of the sensors (extra temp, humidity, leaf, soil, air quality) as extra sensors in CumulusMX

Anyway I'm happy it works now

On a similar  thought process, I notice , that you cannot adjust transmission frequency for anything, like WU anymore, maybe I just haven't been paying attention. You can, for Ecowitt.net and Custom, others... doesn't appear so

So in effect the meteobridge is polling the GW2000 at a set frequency (Like asking it a question in simple terms)? I am just trying to narrow down where the fault may be.

not in the consoles using the predefined posting to WU, WC, WOW - and yes to EW and via custom server, correct.

In Meteobridge you have a similar setup - predefined (around 20) postings to different Weather Services like WU, Windy, AWEKAS, CWOP, ....with predefined posting intervals (not changeable) and 20 freely selectable customizable events (http posts, ftp posts, exports, scripts [e.g. backups], .....) which can also be used for http posts at a custom transmission rate (1 second to x hours), where it doesn't matter if you have a NANO SD (Davis only), a MB Pro(2) or MB on RPi - same functionality. Only the classic Meteobridge using re-purposed routers has a reduced functionality in this area and cannot store data either.

For NANO SD, MB Pro(2) and MB on RPi five (not seven) stations can be configured in parallel where depending on the sensor number only a MB Pro2 and a MB on RPi can manage more than one or two fully fledged stations including backups.

If you want your own posting intervals different from the presets, you have to create the http post yourself.

Yes you can put it that way

I will also do some tinkering myself for what the cause can be
I have a few options left
- It has to do with the wifi lan switch function which was implemented in the last firmware, I now have it on
- It has to do with the wifi credentials, which I have left blank this time

A few times I noticed that my wifi password was messed up with random characters
But I only noticed this when I had unhidden the password
It cannot be interference or so and also lease time of the wifi, because I use cabled and reserved IP adress
Tomorrow I will do some testing with wifi turned off and some reboot test
My GW2000 was connecting slowly or not at all when power cycled

Let's investigate....

I've done some rebooting of the GW2000
First with the lan button on the web UI on
After a power cycle the red light starts to flash rapidly for about 3 to 4 seconds, sometimes the blue LED will light up and the both red and blue are solid for about 1 second then dim both
Then the red will flash rapidly and dim flash once then rapidly and dim
Only if I disconnect the network cable the red light will flash rapidly for a longer period of time and the blue LED goes solid, once the blue LED is solid I plug in the network cable and within 3bseconds the connection with my LAN is made, both LEDs are solid and operation is normal
This is the case with the Wifi button in the web UI on and off
The only difference is that the trying to connect time with the button on is longer (about 5 mins)
Then the device goes dead, no LEDs lit
With button off it only tries for a minute or so then dead

Something in the boot sequence is wrong, if the red LED flashes longer untill the blue LED goes solid then it's ok
But it seems to try too short, also the lred LED next to the LAN cable connector goes off and on

My conclusion sofar, the initialisation time is too short for the lan/wifi stack to load properly
The sensor connection must be made in order to make the LAN connection

Now got the GW2000 working again, tomorrow I will set the upload interval of the custom upload back to 20 secs, if it then fails like it did before that has to be the problem with the device suddenly stopping

I only tested it with wired connection, wireless I will test the power cycle reboot soon

I could be way off here, but I sometimes wonder if there isn't a loop being made and the GW2000 is bridging the WiFi and LAN connections .. which of course is bad.

Both at the same time isn’t bad as long as it answers on the interface the request came in on and picks a default outbound route out one NIC.

I found it possible that the GW 2000 can connect to wired and wireless lan simultaneously
So maybe that is why they added the switch
that's an old finding already from the time when the GW2001 (GW2000+WS90) was initially released.
When e.g. being queried by a data logger via the Ethernet interface and then trying to look it up via WLAN with WS View Plus, it could happen that it got stuck and needed a reset. Also, with both interfaces active and posting to Weather Services active, you cannot tell/determine/control which interface is being used for these postings. see the original GW2001 thread https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=43139.0 with almost 900 posts.

Therefore it is advisable to use only one of these interfaces. Once connected via WLAN you couldn't switch off the WLAN connection - only remove the password or enter a wrong password, but the device would probably keep on trying to (unsuccessfully) connect.
Now with FW 2.2.3 you can switch off the interfaces and use only one.

Today I did some more changes to my configuration of the GW 2000
I set the interval to 20 seconds again of the custom upload and within 30 minutes the device stalled and internet connection was lost
Rebooted and set the interval back to 60 seconds but still after some time the device loses connection
I now reset the device to default settings and rebooted, hoping it will stay connected this time

As far as I can tell the 20 seconds interval is the reason of the unstable internet connection

Maybe someone can confirm my findings?

Thanks all for your thoughts and findings and tips, if I stumble on to some other findings i will post again

one of my GW2000 posts every 16 seconds, the 2nd every 5 seconds (custom server); otherwise the standard intervals of the EW, WU, WC postings - and it has no impact on either the local LAN reception of data or impacts the internet postings ...

Short update

My GW2000 is now working correctly for about a week now
It is on WiFi, as my cabled LAN would disconnect from time to time
I have my GW2000 on my meteobridge nano as the second station
I only have one GW2000 on my network now
My 2551 console sends data to my Raspberry Pi for extra sensors data collection in CumulusMX
The GW2000 sends data to the server where my site is hosted
I do not know what caused the disconnections maybe two GW2000 on same network caused the problem....

Anyway it works now

Thanks again for all the replies and tips

Have a nice day y'all
