Firmware version 3.62 & above.
« on: August 20, 2019, 05:52:31 AM »
From their Website...

Quote
Firmware version 3.62
Minor improvements to allow use of new (or alternate)Temp/Hum and Barometer.
Added additional support for international radio frequencies.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

I'm currently on 3.15 & had applied the -0.9°C offset when I upgraded from the SHT11 to an SHT31.

Does the 3.62 upgrade remove the need for the offset on Pre AS ISS's?

Cheers.

So what is the link to this Firmware version 3.62? I assume with the mention of FW 3.15 that this is a VP2? Latest FW version for the VP2 (that Davis wants anybody to know about anyway) is FW 3.80, never heard about or seen a FW version 3.62.

And just to complicate things there is actually a FW version 3.83 that Davis does not want anybody to know about.... apparently? Why not, have absolutely no idea, more Davis secret squirrel crap

Yes but try finding 3.83 under a Davis download, does not exist, Davis response has been totally lacking, latest version they say is 3.80, first time I am aware of that Davis has shielded a firmware update. There is also Vue FW 4.33 that apparently doesn't exist either!

One of the reasons this happens is because the latest firmware is not necessarily compatible with older console hardware versions (or, sometimes, has not as yet been proven to be compatible).  So in practice the situation may be more complicated than Davis not making a firmware update available as a download out of spite or laziness or something. It can waste a lot of support time if users start trying to install firmware which isn't actually compatible with their console.

So what is the link to this Firmware version 3.62?

From this page where 3.80 is available.

https://www.davisinstruments.com/support/vantage-pro2-wireless-console-firmware-direct-pc-install-3-80/

I was looking for version history to see what the collective changes are between my 3.15 & the current 3.80.

Yes it is a VP2.

I can't get the exact page to post, so select "software/firmware" then "Please select a product" then obviously "VP2". It'll show them all there.

Yes it is a VP2.

Then 3.62 & 3.65 were never released as specific updates, available firmware went from 3.15 to 3.80.

Not releasing specific firmware updates has really never been an issue in the past, for example 3.15 could not be installed in pre 2006 consoles but at least that was made aware, at the moment Davis are in fact not even acknowledging FW 3.83 exists which really makes the underlying reasons rather obscure and secret squirrel

Hi all, first post here.

I bought another VP2 a couple of days ago.
It has the 3.83 firmware in it. According to the sticker on the box.
I am in Australia. Hope this helps

I had reported incorrect reporting of the soil wetness sensor and Davis acknowledged that this was present in console up to v3.80.

I have just written to support as a follow up to my ticket to ask if this addressed that issue, and stated the version or the release notes are available on their support site currently.

If I receive a response I will provide an update as information becomes available

Please see response below. There was no reference back to FW 3.83 which I identified was not on their support downloads.

The soil moisture will be fixed in 3.86 or later. We are still qualifying it and it has not been released.

Still doesn't address the question about whether the 0.5°C offset is still required with the later version firmware.

I'd presume that may be something that would be changed, as on of the key differences in the 2 sensor families is the 14 bit vs 16 bit data strings.

Also can't imagine new unit shipped with SHT31's installed would have the offset set from the factory.
That would be a bit tacky in a brand new device.

Unless I'm missing something, that's not a firmware fix, that's a hardware issue from the ISS TX that is or isn't compatible.

Yes they are not very talkative (at all) re VP2 FW 3.83 which obviously does exist and also Vue FW 4.33 for that matter.

Yep, I've had my Vue about 3 months now with 4.33, don't know what the big secret is...
