After nearly 10 years Yawcam will no longer run on my Windows 8.
Working on setting up a new PC Windows 10 and can't get Yawcam to run on it either.

Looking for something that will capture once a minute or so and save as a file that I can upload.  Logitech C920s USB.

Suggestions?

Paul

I use Yawcam on Windows 10, multiple computers, it works fine.  You need to have Java installed of course.

Still don't have the webcam online.  I think it is that Java would not install properly on my new Windows 10 PC and I uninstalled it a couple of times.

Any suggestions on getting the correct Java installed.

Thanks,
Paul

To install java on W10 you need to turn off a whole bunch of security.

I've never had to do that with any installation on Windows 10, though that would probably depend on whether you are running Windows 10's built-in firewall and antivirus versus a third party company's.

But it should be like installing any other piece of software.

To install java on W10 you need to turn off a whole bunch of security.

Can you explain what the Java installation or Windows is telling you when installing it and having an issue?

It's possible you have more than one Java installation (and possibly version) that is interfering.

Usually the installer itself will check for older or previous installation and uninstall them.  But you can check this manually and download this from Java - https://java.com/en/download/uninstalltool.jsp

Run it and it will check to see if you have any versions installed or maybe pieces, and help you uninstall them.  Do a reset of the computer.

Usually the default download for Java is a small installer that in turn downloads the full installation, but if you have had trouble in the past you might want to download the full instillation and try it that way.

https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

At the above link download "Windows Offline".  (There is a 64-bit version but I usually just do the default one as Yawcam is the only Java software I use, outside of an OpenStreetMap.org mapping program - and both run fine on the default 32-bit version).

There are also install instructions right beside it.

It should be very straight-forward - Windows 10's UAC will pop up asking if you want to install the program, but I assume you've seen that a million times before and you just click Yes.

They recommend resetting after an installation but you don't need to.

Still don't have the webcam online.  I think it is that Java would not install properly on my new Windows 10 PC and I uninstalled it a couple of times.

Any suggestions on getting the correct Java installed.

Thanks,
Paul

I too give a big  [tup] for YAWCAM. It's quick, simple and user friendly. I've been using it a couple weeks now and not a single issue with the program. As mentioned in some posts earlier you DO need JAVA. As you are installing the program the first time, when the YAWCAM program realizes you do not have JAVA, it will ask you if you want to install Java XXXX into your computer. To see an example of my web camera go to ohwx.net and scroll down to where you see "Webcam". Click the image for a full sized view.

I've been using IPTimelapse with my webcams for years and years. Very full featured. You can setup YouTube and FB streaming, time lapse, overlay weather data from multiple sources, on and on. The best in my opinion. No Java required. You can try it free for 7 days.

https://iptimelapse.com/

I know one of my thumbnail images is wonky, I moved up to the mountains and still working on my webcams and webcam webpages. I have one new camera on a shelf waiting to be installed, and getting ready to order another one. https://www.sharxsecurity.com/product_HTNC4430XIR

I have three temporary cameras setup until I can get the better ones installed.
The two that are working are here. Scroll down

I do, they both work great! I don't run them all the time but when I know that bad weather will be around I will live stream.
