No way, dude!!!! This is KRAZY!!!!! (Note the capital K!!!)

I was telling someone the other day that Cumulus and the templates are so solid that I've forgotten a lot of what I learned in putting the station online to start with!!! I looked then and the last time the system was down was 62 days ago....and that was from an extended power outage where my back-up power when down, too!!!!

I went to look at the forecast (how I found out it was down) and panicked...thinking "Dude, you don't have a clue how to get this going again!!!!" Well, I logged onto wxforum.net and naturally, what's at the top of the "new messages"?....you got it, this thread!!! So's I mosey over to Ken's website, fumble around on trying to figure out what I (the brain-dead one) am supposed to do. I download the new advforecast2.php file, change my warning zone, upload it to the server and SHAZAMMMM!!!!!!!!...I GOT FORECASTS!!!!! \:D/ That was slicker'n a bowl of boiled okra with a slab of fatback in it!!!!!

Thanks Ken, you *are* incredible at keeping things going smoothly...regardless of the curveballs that the NWS throws ya....you always hit a homerun!!!!!

Ed

I didn't change the warning zones. I think the settings php overrides the updated advforecast2.php.
If you use Jim McMurray's 'Forecast Compare' script, you need to change the settings!
I've added this note to my advforecast2.php:
Quote
//NOTE NOTE NOTE This localizing information is critically important for Jim McMurray's WXSIM NWS Forecast Comparison Script
//DO NOT Modify advforecast2.php without including the following localizing information or it will break the Comparison Script
$NOAAZone = 'NEZ066'; // change this line to your NOAA warning zone.
I ALWAYS use 'Compare-It' to modify this script even though Ken says to just replace it.

Thanks for clarifying Jerry. I don't use the Jim McMurray compare script.

I updated both the forecast and forecast discussion pages and the forecast page is fixed but the forecast discussion page still shows Forecast discussion unavailable, please try later.

Just noticed this too. Guess the NWS updates covered more than just the actual forecast page.

So that's why my old advforecast2.php file had the California warning zone in it!!! I didn't mention that 'cause I figured I'd be showing my *real* ignorance. #-o I guess I need to get in there and screw up some of my files so I can practice fixing them again!!! It's amazing how well the system runs....

Folks:
I am having the same problem Eric has.
I can't get my Forecast Discussion Page to work, along with several others.

http://yourlocalweather-clay-ny.com/wxforecast-discussion.php
http://yourlocalweather-clay-ny.com/wxforecast-fire-weather.php
http://yourlocalweather-clay-ny.com/wxforecast-near-shore.php
http://yourlocalweather-clay-ny.com/wxforecast-recreational.php

I tried changing the forecast-discussion.php file without success. What do I need to change to get this working again?

Thanks

The warnings scripts (Curly's NWS scripts, atom-advisory.php, atom-top-warning.php current versions) all used HTTP/1.1 for access, so should be working fine. It was the advforecast2.php and forecast-discussion.php that had used HTTP/1.0 (but now use HTTP/1.1) and had broken when the NWS/Akamai forced only HTTP/1.1 request to be used.

Best regards,
Ken

I have some goofy access now but can get in-using recent documents from the start menu

When I put in the new info, it said there was an issue with line 907.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '}' in \\FS01\FS01Data\Shared\RMS\Weather\advforecast2.php on line 907

any guess?

Nevermind. Working now. Go Teamviewer!!!

Still mad at school server

When you downloaded the new version did you put the file into WXdiscussion.php as the new file does not have the WX like your page does

Looks like the forecast-discussion.php script on your site is still the old one, not the updated one :)

Ken:
I don't know what has happened, this file worked perfectly until today.
I have all your updates installed. I have attached the file in question for your review.

I did make two changes to the file today in an effort to get it to work:
a. Changed the link to NWS
b. Changed line:  fputs($socketConnection, "GET $resourcePath HTTP/1.1\r\nHost: $domain\r\n\r\n");

How do I get this working again?

Thanks

The updated script has two changes.. one in the Version info, and the second replacing
Code: [Select]
fputs($socketConnection, "GET $resourcePath HTTP/1.1\r\nHost: $domain\r\n\r\n"); with
Code: [Select]
        fputs($socketConnection, "GET $resourcePath HTTP/1.1\r\nHost: $domain\r\nCache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate\r\nCache-control: max-age=0\r\nConnection: close\r\nUser-agent: Forecast loader\r\nAccept: text/plain,text/html\r\n\r\n");
to complete the switch to HTTP/1.1 protocol.

EDIT... to include the proper attachment.

I'm using an old version of the wxNWSpns.php script that quit working today along with the rest. This one has the drop-down menu to chose which office you wish to view.

The script is attached. Can it be patched?

I'm getting nothing either on my PNS page... NWS was busy changing code today :-)

Link I'm using in code is still valid however... http://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=aly&issuedby=aly&product=PNS&format=txt&version=1&glossary=0

If the link is still valid then it must be the same issue Ken reported where they are requiring http 1.1 access. Hopefully he isn't too overwhelmed fixing things today to take a look!

I don't see anything in the file where it mentions http 1.1 access like the others being modified.

They seem to have disallowed HTTP1.0 access (so Akamai sends the 'Forbidden' response).

I've updated the advforecast2.php script to V3.14 31-Mar-2015 to use HTTP1.1 access, and it works again.

Standalone users: download from the script page.
V3 template users: use the update tool page for Base-USA, Plugin-*, 31-Mar-2015 query.

Ken

Thanks Ken you are awesome!!! Keep up the good work =D> \:D/

I changed the code on my page and still had nothing until I force an update then everything is fine BUT if I shut down the browser and cache is cleared I have to force update once again. What did I mess up :-P

Here is the page http://www.smythweather.net/wxforecast.php

I'm sure I overlooked something simple as that is the way it usually ends up LOL!

Thanks
