Title: WeatherCloud Mobile Apps
Post by: galfert on July 25, 2019, 01:55:14 PM
On WeatherCloud's main web page there are some indicators that mobile apps are coming soon for Android and iOS. I never noticed them before as I don't frequent the main page and instead I just jump into my dashboard view. Anyone know how long these may have been showing here? I wonder when soon is?

Just checked their website. There is now no mention of an app becoming available. Looking through the website it says you can access their app through your smart phone but I see nothing on Google Play that it's available.
I wonder if they scrapped the plans for an app.
Sent them an email regarding this matter.

We'd like to make Android/iOS app for WeatherCloud. We have also there our data from our PWS, but WeatherCloud has many restrictions... We also tried contact them for permission, but without success.

It's a pitty... It's about year and they still have no mobile app for download :(

If they give us permission, we are ready to start developing app for this service for their users... For free. unfortunately there is no interest on their side.

WC did get back to me about the app availability.

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

The Weathercloud app for mobile devices is under development and will be released despite the delay.

Unfortunately, we still cannot announce a release date, which is why we decided to removed references to the app on our home page.

Regards,

it looks like same reply year ago... I dont understand why they dont allow api to users. They dont need make own app... users can make it faster and cheaper.

This service only promises apps, but they have more work with website and no time for apps developing, I think

But if they provide API for others to write apps then they give up potential ad revenue, or subscription revenue.

it is about priority. they can give api to community and without work could have more apps and ideas or they can develop apps for years by themselves without any income, because they have no time or people to make it... official app they can develop every time also in future.

anyway. in official app I dont expect ads or subscriptions.

what is better? more apps and satisfied users or no apps and infinity questions when apps will be in store?

but it is up to them. their strategy. accepted
