Title: A tale of two weather links
Post by: floodcaster on August 11, 2020, 10:05:24 AM
I've had my WLL installed now for several months and have to say I am very happy with it. Yesterday a derecho plowed across northern Illinois (beginning in the dakotas) and reached our area just before 3:30pm. Our power went out briefly and we were lucky as damage was limited to just small branches here. Others were not as lucky. I am currently still running my WLIP along with the new WLL but will decommission the WLIP soon. One feature I appreciate with the WLL is the ability to receive and store values during a power outage (provided you installed the batteries of course) and then upload those values once power is restored. You can see how this was reflected in the app for my 2 (Goose Lake) locations. The WLL site's data was updated once power came back on.

My only complaint with the app is that I wish the max wind gust for the last 24 hrs was reported along with the max for the last 10 minutes. And, on the bar graph where previous gust for past hours is displayed, I wish the time of the gust along with the value was indicated. I did send that request to Davis.

In the app if you go to your station and scroll to the bottom you can see the max wind gust for any day you want. Along with rain and temp.

Thank you! I didn't realize you could change the default "temperature" to other parameters. Much appreciated.
