if there are other HP10 owners do the following test, me when I choose day photo only the camera disconnects after a while and when I choose day/night it always stays connected, is this a bug? I am less than 20ft from my router.

I've been having an ongoing issue with it disconnecting, some time I could see breaks in the blue signal display for the present day but still working  but some times it just disconnected and I had been pressing reset to get it going again...some times it would work with no problems for days on end.
Recently it was happening regularly - tried all sorts of fixes - removing and then reinstalling the app - tech support told me to ping it ? and make sure my firmware was up to date....nothing was fixing it. Finally today I removed it to make it easier to press the reset button while fault finding and had it plugged into my computer usb supply and would you believe it it worked perfectly, so reinstalled it outside and the same fault happened again. This has led me to suspect the usb power supply that I have used which was an old Garmin usb supply for my bike computer...i think. So have removed it again and have it next to me here powered by my computer usb and it is working perfectly....so it was the USB power supply - when I first installed it I tried powering it with a cheap Chinese usb supply but it would not work at all with that.

thank you very much for the answer, I will check on the power supply side, which is 5v 1a. [tup]

If you have an extension USB run, or even if you don't , it may be worthwhile to use a 2A USB power supply.
(This is assuming that you aren't using a home brew 5V supply , etc).

The day vs day/night setting though , is weird

Well so much for that fix.
I have tried a good USB power supply for the camera and am still getting the same problem - notice it has the 1 second flashing led and no connecton.
Now once again removed and now powered from my computer and working correctly again - so the only other thing can be the distance from my router....dont really know what to do now ...pretty sure there is no problem with the router it works for my weather station console a similar distance away....must be a faulty camera?

This camera?:

https://weatherspares.co.uk/products/ecowitt-wittcam-weather-camera

Looking at it there appears to be no extended antenna. So probably just the PCB antenna.

I had a couple cameras with fake outside antennae, only had inside PCB antenna, that would not work even 15 feet from router.

I guess it is not normally an issue for these cameras so maybe there is a fault on PCB so antenna is not fully functional.

Sometimes I find if an item is moved closer and left connected for a while it is able to connect again once moved to weaker signal area.

have you managed on your side to have more than 24 hours without it going offline, it looks like this camera is going to sleep. ](*,)

mine still had gaps for a while yesterday but has been ok since.
I have changed it to 24HR recording and ecowitt tech support also suggested setting it to 24HR recording - is this because you have been in touch with them regarding it seeming to work in 24HR mode? ...or are they aware of a problem?

I came across this one in England that seems to have the same problem but doesn't appear to stop completely.

Im a bit hesitant to change it back to 'Daily' recording now....

I’ve discovered something with mine.

I have it set for day images only. In between 30 minutes before and after sunset/sunrise the unit is in a sleep state, the unit reports as being offline but my thinking is that the server hasn’t received any communications from it for a certain time period and it thinks its offline. When it’s actually ok and active but just in a sleep mode state.

Ecowitt need to change this so it doesn’t confuse people and worry people their camera is not connected.

Perhaps the camera can send a heartbeat signs to the server every 30mins or so to tell the server it’s online.

Mine has been OK in 24 hr mode apart from two very small gaps yesterday and I dont think they were temperature related....It has been below freezing here for a few days but that does not appear to have affected the camera connection.

I wrote several times to ecowitt about it and for the moment no correction yet, I tried on 3 different routers and always the same problem, lack of stability on the connection. ](*,)
