Hi,
Thought I could figure this out but I'm at a loss.
I went through the setup on WU and set up my cam to do snap shot every 60 seconds and also set it to do ftp upload. I did port forwarding on my router.
On weather underground it still shows my camera as offline.
I can bring my camera up by using the WAN IP address. I know the camera is on internet but it doesn't seem to be doing ftp upload. How can I test this other than using weather underground.
Help please.
Ed

Webcams are all jacked up at the moment with WU. They know about it and are working on a solution. It is probably going to take days or a few weeks. Nothing you can do but wait. It affects new users in a more severe way than old users.

Thanks for your help. I'll have to keep eye on the situation and try again when they get it straightened out.

I've been a Weather Underground user for a long time, but never set up a webcam. Could someone, please, post an example of what goes where in the setup pages for a new webcam? My camera is capable of sending FTP .jpg files but where do I send them? A HELP button would help a lot in the set up screen! A coupe of screenshots of the setup screens with examples would be helpful.

Here is a screen shot of FTP Settings for the camera or DVR
The password area
will be the key that WU gives you
What Camera do you have?
I can help I just need some info from you
-
I already know how to set up FTP on my camera. I want to know what's wrong on the Add New Webcam page. It stalls out at the attached point and NEXT does nothing. What goes in the boxes here and any following pages?
-
What would you put in the boxes on THIS page? Where is a HELP button?
-
Your page in question is pretty straight forward. Also note: the page you list is for an URL camera uploading and not an ftp upload.
So for the boxes. NAME, well give your camera a name. URL, this is where your image is located so WU can grab it. Frequency, how often is the image updated. Again, pretty straight forward, where are your concerns?
-
Well like Otis said
that page is for URL
You need to set up FTP pages
I have had no success with the URL with WU
FTP works great
-
Here is the set up for WU Camera FTP
Log into WU account
Go to profile
Select my devices
Select add a device
This will be first page #1
Select outdoor camera
The next page # 2
Select FTP
The Next Page #3
Move map Pin to your location or enter your street address
The next Page #4
Enter a Camera name what ever you want to call it
Type of Camera IP
and then select your weather station
The next Page #5
You are all done
Next you have your device ID and your upload Key
With that info you need to setup inside the camera to upload with that info
Please use for FTP
ftp://52.36.136.128/
port 21
deive id ………...
for password will be WU uploadkey ………...
save info
test
Hope this helps

Hi,
Registering my camera is a breeze. I've done it both with putting "IP" and the manufacturer in the Type of Camera field. Each time I get Registration Complete. In my camera, I configure ftp precisely as indicated, but get "Some fields are wrong:
• Type a host address. Only use : . - and alphanumeric characters. Don't use spaces or leave blank." I've tried entering "webcam.wunderground.com" in the host field (in fact, that's what WU told me to do). Then I get "Unable to Resolve Host."
Any suggestions?
Thank You!

Hi Ed
sorry for to late reply
I was helping another person setup WU Camera
Did you try just the IP address in the camera field
52.36.136.128
port 21
directory leave blank or just /
if that does not work try
ftp://52.36.136.128/
What Camera do you have?
-
No apology necessary. I actually didn't expect such a quick response. Thank you very much!
Dropping the "ftp://" results in a"500 Internal Server Error Failed FTP upload: 553."
My camera is an AXIS P3225-LVE Mk II.

Are you uploading with a file name?
If so try without the file name
-
Do you mind if I can login to your pc with TeamViewer and take a look at your setting?
If so I just need the ID and the password
send them to me in a message
-
What ID and password?
-
google TeamViewer
its a remote support software
you will need to download the software
it will allow me to login to your pc
-
I appreciate the offer, but I can't allow someone else access to my computer.
-
I understand
no problem
can you show me so pictures of your setting for the camera?
-
Give me a minute.
-
Screenshot Attached
-
you need to put a check mark in for Use passive FTP
for your pass word put the key that WU gave you for the camera
then test and see what it says
-
I tried that before, but I just tried it again -- same 500 error message.
-
how long ago did you add the camera at the WU website?
also for the folder put a /
also try for the host ftp://52.36.136.128/
-
How long ago did I add my camera? The most recent was this morning == shortly before I posted.
-
did you try those setting above?
-
In the Host field, it won't let me use //
-
what about the folder
put /
-
Tried that as well (actually tried that one this morning) -- no difference.
-
what is the key for the camera?
-
EDIT: Webcam key removed. Please send keys via PM.
-
what is your call sign at WU for your weather station
-
KUTRIVER64
-
can you check WU to see if the camera say it is online or offline
-
Offline
-
im sending my camera to your WU and it says it is successful
-
I don't see a camera on my WU site. But, what would the 500 Internal Server Error message be?
-
Is there anything I need to do in my router?
-
A 500 error is an internal server error. It usually means that there's a misconfiguration of the server with the software
no need to change router
-
lets do this
login to WU and delete the camera
then add a camera again
setup outdoor
ftp
your location
get it a name
set type as IP
set it to your weather station
agree and
save it
What is the key to the new camera
-
That part is done.
-
What is the key to the new camera
-
EDIT: Webcam key removed. Please send keys via PM.
-
that's CAM5 right?
and ur sure the key is right
cap sensitive
-
Yes, CAM5
Copied and pasted
-
ok I have success
the camera is online
you can see my camera
take a look
now we need to get your camera uploading to the site
try your setting and test
-
Nice truck!
-
thanks
try to test your camera now with the new upload key and CAM5
I will disconnect mine
-
Same result. When I changed the port from 21 to the port I have configured in my router for this camera (port forwarding), it eventually times out.
-
we don't have much time
we have to upload to the WU camera or it will go offline again
-
well that's a problem
you do not need to port forward the camera
remove the port forwarding from the router
that would make a network loop on itself
-
I do port forwarding on my cameras so that I can access them remotely. The http port is the only one that was changed.
-
should not be port 21
make it 80 or 8000 or anything but 21
-
The http port is 50211
-
ok that's fine
do you know what type of file the image from the camera is?
.jpg
.avi
.mpg?
-
But do I need to configure my router for port 21?
-
Well we know its not the WU server having the issue
it configuration on the camera
-
Just setup port forwarding, and now I get Access Denied.
-
Access denied from what
-
That's just the message I get.
-
From the WU server?
-
If I insert a "/" in the directory field, I get "500 Internal Server Error Failed FTP Upload 553"
-
That's my suspicion.
-
Same thing if I use webcam.wunderground.com as the Host.
-
I really need to login I to your PC and see the setting you got if we are going to fix this
TeamViewer is software where you and me are on the pc together and at the same time
you can disconnect me at anytime you wish
its a one time connection not all the time
that's why there is a ID and password it changes every time it is used
-
Now, I'm getting "500 Internal Server Error Failed FTP Upload 553" all the time.
I'm sorry -- I just can't do that. I really do appreciate your wanting and trying to help me with this, but it's just not important enough for me to allow access to my computer to someone I don't even know.
-
I understand
well we know it is not the WU server
I was uploading my camera to it
so just keep playing around with it you may find the right configuration and all goes to working
good luck
sorry I couldn't get you hooked up with your camera online
-
Again, Michael, I really do appreciate all of your efforts. Have a GREAT evening!
-
You too
if you get working
Let me know
Thx
-
I believe that the FTP menu being used (from screenshot earlier) for this Axis camera is for FTPing video not picture stills.
The process to FTP stills is a bit more complex with this camera:
https://www.axis.com/en-rs/support/faq/FAQ115997
Also please send out Webcam keys via PM and not on the open forum.
-
ok
well do
sorry
-
galfert,
While the camera that FAQ was from is not the same model as mine, it did point me in the right direction. The issue has been resolved, and my webcam is online.
Thanks to you and Michael for your help.
