W8686(HP2550 clone) not connecting with Ecowitt WS69 array .
« on: January 18, 2025, 08:16:57 AM »
Hello.Hope you can help.
I am trying to connect a Watson W8686 7" console (a clone of the HP 2550 from  Ecowitt)with  a new replacemnent Ecowitt WS69 Wireless 7-in-1 Outdoor Sensor Array but they are not connecting. Both are 868mhz.
On the console sensor ID list there is no WS69.I bought the replacement array as i was convinced it would connect to the  console .Any help would be appreciated.Thank You.

Well, start with the basics.   How far apart do you currently have these two devices?  Are there walls or other obstacles  in between?   Do you have fresh, brand name quality batteries in the sensor unit?

Do you have the "WSView  Plus" app installed on a phone? If not, install that app.

When you open the app, do you see the Watson W8686 visible in the  app  under "My devices"?

A member here developed a Wiki that should be useful. https://meshka.eu/Ecowitt/dokuwiki/doku.php?
Once the page loads, look to the Table of Contents on the right side. Scroll down to the "5.2 procedure" and click that. See the attached screenshot.

That should get you to the section headed "5.2 procedure" which is about WiFi configuration. Read the whole section first.  Then go back and actually do the steps.

You will need to disconnect from your normal wifi network because the gateway will establish its own (temporary) network that you will need to connect to.  After the gateway is configured the temporary network goes away and you can the reconnect to your normal network.

This can be confusing if you have not encountered this kind of process previously. :)
