Google map display
« on: May 20, 2024, 12:25:14 PM »
Perhaps question with simple answer, but don't know, cannot find and therefore ask  ........
If calling url http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?GW2041 I get a map with dark overlay with mutiple white textstrings 'for development purposes only'.
How to get rid of that overlay&textstrings?

IIRC, Google now charges for certain map integrations.  And FindU isn't paying for it.  That's why you're seeing the error.  Same with the GladStoneFamily/CWOP check site.

That's why you'll see a lot of sites switched to OpenStreetMap.  I believe that's the one our Plains Weather and NOAA Radio sites have changed to.

Enlightning explanation.

Related to application of Google maps had the impression that also possible that User could 'buy' permission for 'use for Development'.
But obviously the design of a website must support such setup, and if not, as User you still get either a marked & darkened picture, or empty picture .......
