anyone here pay for support for Blue Iris?
« on: May 13, 2019, 02:42:05 PM »
I see Blue Irus will have a new update out soon and I will not be able to update anymore going from 4.X.X.X to 5.x.x.x so I would have to pay to update this time. My question is I see I could have a basic support level and that would let me update all the time. (but that is $29.95 Yearly)

is it worth it?

I did not have a good experience with paying for the additional support.  Mind you I do like the program Blue Iris.  After the support expired from purchasing the program I had some problems so purchased the support plan.  I had great difficulty getting any responses to my issue and never did get the issue resolved through them.

I finally got my issue resolved from the IP Cam talk forum https://ipcamtalk.com/.

Please note - this is just my experience, you may have better success - others may have had too.

Considering the quality of BI and the constant updates for each version as it "matures", 30 bucks a year is a steal.  I've had several problems resolved by BI support over the years I've had it running 24/7.  Keep in mind that BI is a "one man band", the author is also the support department.  That can make getting support slow, or get missed, at times.

I have to agree with awsum140.... the support I have received from a one man band has been very good, even though I may have had to wait an extra day or two.

I really like BI don't get me wrong, support is sketchy at best when I needed it and ended up either giving up or learning from forum. I own 3 separate copies and no I'm not paying for the support I've never received.
