Software for 5-in-1
« on: May 28, 2016, 06:41:58 PM »
I got an Acurite 5-in-1 station for my birthday, and it has been great! However, I'm only currently uploading to WUnderground, as I am having some difficulty finding some compatible pieces of software to run it for. I see that Weather Display supports it, but I have been unsuccessful in doing so thus far. Are there any other weather software options out there that support it?

I dont have personal experience with Acurite, but if WD should support it then I would recommend trying to see what the problem is and try to make that work, because WD is (IMHO) by far the best option out there.

Also, Brian, the developer, is extremely helpful and always replies to all users having problems.
I recommend you ask here:

I'm a big fan of MeteoBridge, which can connect both the USB consoles and also hijack packets from the Acu-Rite bridge if you have that.  Except for strange weekly USB disconnects (from what is probably my old 1035 console with a failed barometer on its last legs), it has been 100% bullet-proof and uses nearly no power.....
WU Gold Stars for everyone!

Yes, I completely agree.

If you want a simple solution that works out-of-the box and requires no PC as an intermediate, then Meteobridge is the way to go.

If you want to also have your data in your PC and use some SW, then I recommend you look here:

Brian made these great videos where he shows you exactly how to install it.

I checked those videos out, but for some reason I can get the VIS Reader to show my data, but not the console on Weather Display (Values in VIS Reader are correct).

Weewx is another option.

VIS Reader is another, but I'm unsure what their current relationship is with Weather Display.

I suspect the problem with the acu rite is the barometer reading is too low and you need to add a barometer offset into WD to bring it up to expected sea level value

I agree that it has to do with the barometer reading. I had the same problem and when I went in and put in the necessary offset the software worked perfectly. I can't remember now if mine was to low or to high, but I believe it was to low. I will respond again shortly if I figure out how I changed it.

I have the offset put in, but my temperatures and other sensors are also off. Fixing the barometer settings wouldn't be a one-trick pony would it?

I would suggest going to VIS Reader and reading all that it will do. Mike has advanced the software (currently 3.7.1.0) far beyond the original supplied with the Acurite station. WD uses VIS reader to get it's data. VIS Reader will upload to CWOP, Weather Underground, and several other weather sites. It is capable of uploading your data to your own site and just recently I added some files in order to use the Leuven template. Here is VIS's link: http://www.valleyinfosys.com/visreader.html
