Wind sock
« on: December 02, 2008, 10:27:43 PM »
My wife complainied that besides the bad picture my weather webcam was producing, there wasn't anything going on in the picture.  After much serious consideration, I decided to put a wind sock in the picture so there would be some movement (well, as long as the wind was blowing).  It was pretty easy to make one.  All you need is a fence post (or a long stick) and a plastic grocery bag or a garbage bag.  Step 1:  Place fence post into ground.  Step 2:  Attach plastic bag.  Step 3:  Adjust camera.  Hint:  a black bag shows up in my picture better than a white bag.  This may vary depending upon the background and lighting.  Hint 2:  A black bag does not show up well at night.  I posted a picture of my masterpiece:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/28973905@N04/3076801835

You could do like the airports do with their windsocks, and put a light in the bag for night viewing...
