making progress outside but what about inside enclosures
« on: November 03, 2014, 04:49:12 PM »
Everything is all built  and outdoor enclosures done and mounted but I haven't figured out what is best for mounting the controller, I just know I do not like it sliding around the desk   Anyone come up with good ways to tidy up the inside stuff?

Been working fine with recycled 'blister packs" from various products, and an old "pizza delivery" box...

I've got a couple BUD boxes that I am going to mount on a board that will hang on the wall in my office. That will let me see the LCD display and the LEDs plus get them off my floor where they currently sit under my router. I have one for the controller and another for the H-field Amp board.

BTW, do I see a home-made satellite antenna in one of your photos? You must do some sat-comms, as a ham, correct?

Pretty slick Cutty, guess I should not be so quick in pitching stuff in the future.

Don, that QFA is one I built many years ago for 137.5 MHz, I'm using WXtoimg to pick weather sat pictures straight off the orbiters.
I have a set of wimo yagis on a yaesu G-5500 in the other corner of the yard for working ham sats.

Nice setup! Do you feed any of the WXSAT images to a webpage or do you just look at them live?

Best of luck getting your BO station up and running. Don't hesitate to ask questions...

Thanks Don,  well I used to post them until the pc that was hosting literally smoked, best guess was the motherboard shorted and took many things with it and I have not replaced it as of yet, so I capture to this pc just for my own use, once in awhile I do get some nice passes that come out pretty good, I attached one  pic from today.

Kevin,
Nice shot.

I was big into getting the images down a few decades ago.  Never got an HRPT station on the air, but once the folks at UW Madison SSEC had started putting the images on line I couldn't justify spending thousands for limited passes that my hole in the trees would allow.

I'm still occassionally listening to the pass, but the receiver hooked to my QFH is an old one from England and I don't even know if it works any more.

I'll look up that WxToImg program you spoke of, maybe I can get back into seeing them come in a line at a time.

It was thrilling at the time, and gave me a wee bit of feeling of being much more in touch with the nuts and bolts of the space program than just seeing the photos from some web site.

Strange things happen and the unintended appearance of your antenna gives me ideas again.

Thx.
