I see that the Overview map on Blitzortung.org is working again.
http://www.blitzortung.org/Webpages/index.php?lang=en&page=1®ion=3&subpage_0=30 (http://www.blitzortung.org/Webpages/index.php?lang=en&page=1®ion=3&subpage_0=30)
If you zoom in on SE Lower Michigan (Livonia), you can see two "lighthouse" icons, one for each system. The map looks more filled out, so I believe that it has the RED data for the strikes. The give away is the strike data out West.

This morning, I was wondering what happened to the station location icons. Now there is a station for every strike on the Overview map!
Ooops... Looks like something got broken overnight.

In the overview Live Lightning Maps of Blitzortung.org my user name "SchwabTh" shows up in the vertical menu on the left with a small magnifying glass icon.
When I click the box next to it all the networks lightning strikes disappear...unclick it and they reappear.
This does not occur if I select "this station only" on LightningMaps.org. I can see just my station's locating of the network's lightning strikes.
Is this a Blitzortung.org bug for all users or just me?

It looked like the fixed the "station per strike" problem, but I see the same problem as schwab.

Using the station ID rather than username works.

How do you do this? I got the user name with the check box in the Overview page. This came the first time I logged in. Where/how do you enter the station number?

I found it, add "&uselect=NNN" at the end: http://www.blitzortung.org/Webpages/index.php?lang=en&page=1&subpage_0=10&subpage_3=2&selection=1528&uselect=706 (http://www.blitzortung.org/Webpages/index.php?lang=en&page=1&subpage_0=10&subpage_3=2&selection=1528&uselect=706)

You can also find this info when you log into "Services" on the "Miscellaneous" page about a 3rd of the way down.

You need to copy the link and change the URL to remove Egon's name from the end and substitute your station ID. I think the setting gets stored in a cookie from then on.
I've been trying this with my user name for some time with no luck. The station ID works perfectly. Nice tip!

Thanks for the advice...
http://www.blitzortung.org/Webpages/index.php?lang=en&page=1&subpage_0=10&subpage_3=2&selection=1528&uselect=671
So I entered my station #671 in the url and looking at the world map it suggests my station in Rochester, Minnesota is helping detect lightning strikes in the vicinity of:
Australia
Scandanavia
Southern Europe
Eastern Russia
Is this accurate or even possible?
-
I saw the same with my station, 681.
If I had to guess, I would say that lightning strikes reported from the US just happen to be coincident with the time of strikes reported in Europe within a window of a few microseconds. The servers can't tell the position of a strike except from reported strikes within the window, so it uses the time in the calculation, goofing up the position somewhat.
I'm surprised the data from the regions is not segregated in the servers to avoid this.

You guys using the flat panels, right? You may in fact be detecting them with the ionospheric secondary or tertiary reflections... that's the part that looks like the back of a double humped camel, and can come in quite distorted at times, depending on how moody the Nordic God is... you guessed it "Thor's Hammer Slammer Jammer"....
I've kind of speculated on whether this could would happen... it should...
-
I am only using the 12cm ferrite antennas...and getting this incredibly long distance strike detection...within North American I think my system detects strikes up to ~4000 kilometers or 2500 miles...

No doubt. Mine does, and I'm using the same antennas.

I was experimenting around with the uselect option. You can put two stations separated by a comma and I think that it gives the strikes that they both located.

It seems that you can put more than two but they get cut off on the left-hand side checkbox area.
