Custom server pm25batt1 field goes missing
« on: August 01, 2021, 08:34:28 AM »
I have noticed that the pm25batt1 field seems to go missing for periods of time. This morning the value was 4 consistently and then for 20 minutes it was missing completely, then returned as 4 again. This happened again just once an hour later. Anyone else seeing this and anyone have any ideas whether this is a bug or not?

Looks to me more like the sensor "waking up" and taking a few stretches to get fully awake.
Especially my WH51 soil moisture sensors keep on falling asleep here and there and then resurrect again.
Interestingly - as a have 3 GW1000 - the disappearing and re-appearing in not always with the same sensor(s).
While one GW1000 still show constant reporting another one loses it for some time...

It's only the battery indicator, the other PM2.5 fields are there OK. Surely the PM2.5 value would disappear as well over the 20 minute break I had but it did not.

Interesting, and this only occurs with the Custom server? , not with WSView, or EcoWitt.net? etc. Although it appears EcoWitt.net might cache values for a while even if a sensor goes away.

I'm receiving the battery data from my PM2.5 Outdoor sensors from Custom server, but I don't display it anywhere and I don't have a trap for missing data so I haven't observed a data drop. I have to go look at a js file that I produce and see if it always has the data.

Hi!

This is (unfortunately) usual.
Have a look here: https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=39432.msg405635#msg405635

Oliver

So in this case, as the reported battery levels that are seen, look decent, this may be a non reception of the signal, maybe from distance?

This actually reminds me of a situation that happened last week with my exterior PM2.5.
The tile on Ecowitt.net for the device went away, however , under the battery status tile, It showed the battery status for the unit as being depleted.

Complete opposite to what Broadstairs saw with the custom server. But, I was glad to see the reason why the tile had disappeared.

I replaced the battery and all was good again.

So I am going to make an assumption, that when something like this happens, Ecowitt.net although it drops the tile for the device as no data received (after some duration), keeps presenting the battery status, probably from last value stored. It actually placed that battery status in the top of the list in red.
